    Default Aiming problems

I seem to have a lot of trouble aiming on console shooters. I love this game, its a piece of art, but the truth is that I'm not all that great at it. The area that I need the most work in is aiming with that damn thumbstick. For me, I find it hard to control how much force I apply to the stick. Often when I go for reflex shots, I overshoot the target a lot. Whenever I go to add more force on the thumbstick, I add too much and I miss. I don't believe that it's a matter of hand-eye coordination, as I consider myself exceptionally accurate with a keyboard and mouse.

So, does anyone know of any ways that I could improve my aim, through games or otherwise?

I have considered that. But it's already quite low, and lowering it further would make my turn speed far too slow.

You can get a keyboard + mouse for Xbox, just ask triP. PM him if your curious about it.

I won't do that, I consider it cheating. I would find it quite difficult to play with a keyboard, anyways.

It think too that playing a person with a controller while using a keyborad and mouse is unfair, but that is just how I see it. You could pratice aiming just by playing Bots like the guy above me said, sorry I forgot you name.

    Only lower the y-sensivity.

My y-sensivity is only 3/4 of the the x-sensivity.

You don´t need so much of it anyway, and it helps you A LOT for headshots with the sniper or aiming overall.

playing with a keyboard would actually be worse, because it would be much harder to preform the jumps with it. sure ur aim might be better but ur agility would be horrible.

Some weapons are much harder to aim than others, and some weapons have different aiming issues to learn. Most of the weapons deal a lot of splash damage, especially the explosive ones. I find aiming at feet is better for those, even if the damage isn't as great, since you are less likely to get the shot reflected back at you. People might be able to give you better feed back if you specified some weapons you wanted help with.

I don't see the point of that "trick" since medium and light characters can bounce around like ping-pong balls. Not constructive to leaving it at a "headshot-level" since it's changing constantly, and since the y-sensitivity is lower it would be harder to keep the cross hair on them.

Just play lots of shooters. I had no idea you could get keyboards for Xbox. And why on Earth would you use a keyboard for Halo 2? I use this controller for all shooters: http://www.gamesterusa.com/xboxfps.html
The buttons are on the underside of the controller so your thumbs never leave the joysticks. Doesn't sound like much, but it works wonders.
