Dunno why people think its not, but assault is played a lot. Check cb ladders, check assault tourneys. Even without trial maps (race maps are mostly dead atm for those who still think race maps are mostly played) it gets played a lot.

As for conquest, nobody of us knows in what matter it would look like assault; it can own but it can totally suck to. We are open for conquest, but still we would like to have assault.

Well let me ask this for everyone that wants AS. in the next UT, will ppl be able to mod it into the game? I know Mike Capps says he loves the mods that the community puts out and he loves giving extra maps/mods out for free. but i also read an article in PC gamer that says a lot of companies and cracking down on modding because it takes away from extra stuff they make. i dont think Epic is the type of company that would do that but you never know. it would still be nice to hear an Epic person come here and "Assault's out, thats it, so STFU" but im sure they're to busy with stuff.

Just because a gametype is on a ladder or tournament does make it played alot. The avg player doesn't play pro or competitivly. Most people are just playing for fun.

Most people aren't modders or developers either. AS is what sold UT99, it's what didn't sell UT2K3, it helped to sell 2K4. Many people that played UT99 and then played 2K4 AS left 2K4within months due to the fact that it sucked compared to UT99 AS. We are just trying to get Epic to realize that. UT2K4 AS was not a popular as others due to the fact that it was not done correctly, when compared to UT99. Maybe they should re-evaluate there decision. Maybe make 2K6/7 AS more like 99 AS? As for Conquest, we like AS becasue it is quick and has a lot of adrenaline pumping through you. Play a map like FallenCity and run thorugh a good team in 3 mins is something that you can't do in any other gametype. Nothing else is as fast paced as Assault. From everything that i have read, they are trying to slow down UT, i think that is a bad idea. It's speed it what seperates it from other mp games. W/ another Quake on the way, that is something to consider.

As for locking the threads, go ahead. This is us doing a perfectly leagl protest, we can't all fly down there to do it, so we do it here. I'm sorry for the problems, but if one thread had been kept open and A-n00b-man had stopped goading us, it would have been ok. We just want answers. Their is nothing that will change our minds in that respect.

Assault IS played. Granted, it's not played anywhere near as DM or ONS. But Assault has logged more hours than CTF and VCTF. And this is amazing because the AS community only plays 8 maps with any regularity. You may try to ignore us, but we are still here.

www.utassault.net that is for the original UT.

It was one of the bigger game types, and a big sell. UT2K3 was marked down in reviews because it lacked AS.

Vick... there was some gaming magazine with a UT2k? feature that showed the gametypes, Assault was out.

I come to protest as well, wassup fellaz! My uncle got me into UT99 by showing me AS maps, and it went from there... I played assault online with a 56k for ages b/c it was just that damn fun, and messed with some of the really good AS players and learned plenty of the secret Impact Hammer jumps.

I was pumped and ready for 2k3... and when I heard no Assault, really bad feeling. And as sales obviously indicate, it was a bad move then and left me playing low-grav insta BR on Anubis, over and over.

UT2k4 brought me back to Assault, there are some neat tricks, but nothing is gonna compare to the Impact Hammer tricks. Assault and TAM (Team Arena Master mod) with a dash of Onslaught have kept me playing 2k4 for over a year now as I have upgraded internet and computer to be in a competitive clan.

What AS players want is gameplay, gameplay, gameplay, can't say it enough. The fast play of AS maps at the moment is great b/c changes can happen instantly, and matches can be lost in seconds. This fast pace is what makes it exciting for many ppl. Removing Assault and talking about removing "bounciness" is just a big "no" in my opinion and will possibly turn into 2k3 pt.2, I hope Conquest is good, but it sounds waaaayyy to long for the average Assault player to stay around for a while. This is why we are concerned. ATM I am editing with Fallen City to unlock another path that had been blocked, will be putting it up on Lobster forums soon for some feedback, etc to see how it goes.

Hey Jay. Nice to see another 187 jump to on. When ever i play ONS i don't like to play for a full 20 mins, just have it go to OT. I get bored and ONS is to slow most of the time. Maybe on some of the smaller ONS maps it's alright but..... TAM is the only other mod i play. IT RULES!! Congrat's to A!M for such an awesome mod.

I play Assault. It's what keeps me playing UT. Otherwise, I'd be playing something else. I'd like to know EXACTLY how Conquest is going to replace Assault. Because from the interviews I've read, it's not going to come close. It's going to be even more slowed down and boring.

I play UT2004 because I can dodge off walls, switch weapons at blistering speed, and fly through the air @ a billion miles an hour and land on a hellbender (). If that kind of gameplay isn't in the next UT, I won't be either.

Until you hear something direct from Epic in reguards to this, I wouldn't get all upset about it.

That being said, IF they were to remove it, you never WHAT might replace it.

The point is that at this point, there is a lot of speculation. Obviously, Developers are not going to give out a tonne of info yet, since its too early, but please, be patient and wait and see what they DO announce, before jumping to conclusions.

Mithan i think you are failing to understand the reasoning behind these threads. Epic has a good track record for answering the questions that are asked by the community. These forums are an outlet for the UT community. Thus, people are going to ask the question until some sort of answer is given. I mean we all know the devs are busy people and it is your job as forum mod to try to control things but your constant locking of threads only leads to more threads being made.

Now do not think i am trying to tell you how to do your job because i moderate plenty of forums myself and know what comes from the territory. But in a situation like this simply telling people to be patient is not helpful. It actually further encourages people to ask questions. If you havent noticed most of the AS players posting arent the most patient of people lol...

SweetTooth, I understand the reasoning behind these threads, but I can not force Developers to respond. That being said, I am not going to allow a half dozen threads on the issue that degenerate into flames either. Sorry.

I know a response will come in time, be patient. No real official information has been announced yet, which is why I am asking you and the Community to just wait a bit longer and see what comes directly from Epic, and the reasoning they give.

With E3 being next week, I know the Developers are fairly busy with E3 Crunch time and such, so you may not get a response today, tomorrow or for a while.

I love Assault as well and played it a lot in UT2003 and 2004, so don't think I "dont care about it".

is there another non public or better way to get ahold of Epic? i really dont want to spam your forums and keep going over the same thing. Maybe a way we could actually get they're attention, like you said they are very busy ppl and im sure the last thing they wanna look at is a computer after working on them all day, so im asking your advice. i know you've said wait and honestly i am waiting but at the same time im really eager to hear an answer.

Yes, yes, yes. Show the love ppl. AS was the reason I purchased UT2k4, skipped UT2k3 (as well) and stuck with UT99 for a almost a year before I finally went on to anothr game. I didn't have a net connection when I had UT99 :-( , >_< so I missed out there, but ever since I hopped online in UT2k4, I've been madly playing away at Assault every chance I get. 8)

[EDIT] Oh I almost forgot. I did a complete upgrade on my comp primarily so I could enojoy AS more. How's that for dedication to a gametype that is "not loved"?

Captain you kind of have to know people to get an offical response. I have been lucky enough to talk with people like Joe Graff personally on a few occasions. Luckily he goes way back to UT99 with a buddy of mine . However i dont want to bother the man. After the freaking insane job he did on UC2 i would like for him to work just as hard on UT2007 rather than respond to a forum post.

Assault was modded into the game in UT2003.

I most definitely will watch for news on 2k7. Just wanted to say that I'm an AS fan (a relatively new one, since I started in 2k4, but I digress...) and am quite interested in any information on the gametype.

Look how long the UTA League has existed due to the good AS mod. It is still very active.
The AS in the UT2K4 version is also the very best part. No doubt. More and more people play As in 2K4 every day.
Conquest might be similar. We do hope for this. But good old assaulting is the main mod: Attack and defend.

I sure hope Epic develope team will consider this again and include this mod.

I will definetely loose interest in Unreal Tournament as a game if As is left out. And for me it is a goodbye to UT after about 6 years now.
