does anyone know if there is any development of UC2 models for ut04? I know that there will probably be after the release of the game ,but does anyone know of anything concrete?

Well, I think the biggest problem would be how good the UC2 skin graphics are. You're taking something on a console game and putting it on a PC game. Someone could probably make it from scratch, but I think trying to convert it would mess up somehow. It's possible.. I just can't think of how to do it.

It's Illegal to port newer Unreal models to older unreal games (this is from what I've heard).

I believe I've read that on an interview with Mark Rein once.
Remember tough, It's illegal to PORT, not to re-make it.

    Well, that makes sense.
Actually what I know someone at Epic said is that it's OK if you want to use content from older Unreal games in UT2004.
After UT:XMP and others asking them if they could use this or that, I suppose they got bored of it, and decided to just allow out no questions asked... or rather no more need to ask other people's questions.

"Well, I think the biggest problem would be how good the UC2 skin graphics are."

Actually the high resolution screenshots of the UC2 characters almost disappointed me skin-wise.
It didn't really, because I knew the game would be played on a low resolution TV, meaning the low res skins wouldn't even be noticable.
UT2004's skins are made with a higher resolution.
The models on the other hand, are something different.
I'm sure UC2's models have a higher polycount than UT2004's.

    ^^
true , but you can always make a model with a high polycount , eventhough it might slow the game down a bit like it has with some of the models I have downloaded.

I've been thinking about this lately. I recently started UEd and once I get good enough with models, I'm going to try to make Raptor. Maybe I'll have it done by.. oh, next year. =P

I doubt if its possible to convert UC2 models to UT2004 without much trouble. As some people said, the skin resolutions are lower, and the polycount is higher. With the next gen UT on their hands, I doubt Epic will feel like porting these models over to UT2004, although I wouldn't mind if they did .

    Nice stuff, commander keen!

I know epic wouldn't do it themselves but its quite possible for a person who makes skins and models to do so. there are various models created for ut2004 with a much much high polycount than normal, it does slow gameplay down a few FPS on slower machines though

Just to say . they did it with halo and halo 2 to ut2004. id say its possible to port the models from uc2 to ut2004 though it would be illegal to do so. its very possible
