Default Critical Error while installing UT2k4 ECE

I've been trying to install Unreal Tournament 2004 Editor's Choice Edition for awhile now but every time it gets to the 4th CD (I have the DVD version) it gets an error.

That's from when I tried to copy it to an empty folder and install from there, when I try to install directly from the DVD I get a Critical Error.

Just ask if you need additional info.

    Prob one of two things..

1.dvd croupted and has bad sectors or scratches on it.

2.Your dvd.cd drive is haveing trouble reading it,maybe a firmware update could fix that.
When you kill 6 people in Unreal Tournament 3 it's "Monster kill", In Quake III it's "Excellent", in Counter-Strike Source it's "Kicked by console".

It's only having problems reading from the 4th CD on the DVD. So I doubt my DVD drive is the problem.

Screwed up at a different point this time so it may just be my drive.

Oh, and I've already tried changing the drive to PIO only, installing in safe mode, and moving the CDs to my HD and installing from there.

Bump, any solutions other than replacing my drive? Like I said it reads everything else just fine.

Try copying the cd's to a directory on your harddrive and running setup from there. It's not your drive anyway, the quality of the cd's/dvd's is just ****e. I got exactly the same prob and there is not even the slightest scratch on my disk. Just another reason people should be allowed/enabled (think crappy copy protection) to make backups of their disks.

If you just copy every cd to the *SAME* directory on your hd (say c:\utcd) and then just run setup, it should work (provided that the contents of the cd's where copied without errors).

Already tried that, but I've managed to get my game to work through *other* methods....
