unable to connect to master server...server not down

so, I just bought ut2004 ECE tonight, at best buy. I install, and update to the latest version. Then, when i click community, or join, it keeps stating that the master server cannot be reached. People are telling me that it's because I downloaded the game, and the master server rejects such things (I can assure you, however, that I purchased the game leit for 39.99 at best buy) Should I just come back later and try again, or is there something else wrong (my firewall isn't blocking the ports, I know that much)
