First time working with UnrealED

Hi, I have looked at a few videos from that bonus DVD, so, I try to make something (Level I, only that cube). But when I click on play, and then press fire, then I always start left in a small crater, what is going wrong?

You have to build your geometry before playing your level.

The button for build geometry is at the right of the top toolbar.

Also, make sure you've added a player start that's inside the big cube you subtracted, just off the floor
