    ok, the models face could use some refining, get it closer to the real thing.
    Also the animation with the sword dive type move, he falls way too slowly, it looks a little odd.
    On his dodge back his hand goes through the floor
    on his dodge forwards he doesnt touch the floor

    im very interested in doing a skin for this guy if thats ok?

    Armageddon, I can't get my game to crash like you did using the animation things. Anyone else have this prob?

    When it crashed, I was playing "INSTANT ACTION". J through L key worked fine for animation, but when I pressed the semi-colon...the game just hung up and I even tried it a second time.

    Heh it's never too late to download and test out a model

    Yes he does have team skins. His tunic comes in both red and blue as well as green, appropriate considering it has the same colors in the actual game.

    Yah I never made a 4th taunt, simply because doing what I did with the sword and shield breaking bone heirarchy like that was way too mentally exhausting. Maybe there is a better way. For now though, uuh... I guess just don't press the semi-colon key

    If the model becomes popular, I'll consider making a 4th animation but for right now there is none.

    Also, there is no idle_chat animation. I really wanted to redo the model so that he had an ocarina on his person so that when the user typed a chat message, Link would use the ocarina, but that would have taken more effort than it would have been worth to completely re-physique the model (and possibly re-texture).

    Ok folks, there is a bug. Whenever Link dies and has to turn into a skeleton, the game crashes. I'm working on a fix now.

    Fastest bug fix ever.

    For those of you who don't want to download anything, just add this to the end of xplayersLinkUT.upl

    ,Skeleton=LinkUT.LinkUT

    but add it before that last ')' in there.

    Also, I'm updating the download to version 8 which will fix it also if you install this over the old one.

    just press L to Taunt then He spin like that I just take screenshot middle of He is spining He cant play always looks like that sorry about make you confused this is My Screenshot Magic :up:

    Wow yes that was fast and working fine...YAY, HOORAY...jumps for joy...now I'm really impressed.

    PS..Although I am getting a warning in my server logs although I have not had any crashes with it yet...here is what it says:

    Is there a non umod version of the download avaible?

    I really don't like installing mods / maps / characters via umod, because I host a LAN server.

    Yes, I did not make any death animations as they seemed quite irrelevant considering that the Karma physics take over for the bone animation when dead.

    I'll make a non-umod version right away. Look for the link to that on this thread soon.

    I should also note that the .umod file does NOT modify any existing .ini or configuration files. It only adds files.

    This is awesome, but you know what would be cooler?
    If you had a 'relics' style gametype, but instead, it would have legend of zelda items.
    For example: Iron boots-Pick these up, you'll be slower, but it will weigh you down for swimming. Also gives armor.
    Blue tunic-Never drown in water.
    Ocarina-Teleport to a safe spot
    Red tunic-Resistant to explosives
    My most favorite of all-BOMBS!

    Get the non-umod version here.

    Felouse: the only times that the sword comes out of the scabbard are during two taunt animations.

    Edit: Ooh! I forgot to mention how cool the walldodge anims are!

    For the time being, why not reuse one of the other custom taunt animations you made to fill the fourth spot? That way, you're not running the risk of people accidentally crashing their games until you come up with a fourth taunt (assuming you decide to).

    This model doesn't gib. :down: This usually happens because modeleres don't know that using the main mesh as the skeleton prevents the model from gibbing. The solution is to duplicate the mesh in the animation file and use the alternate one as the skeleton. What I usually do in these cases is copy and paste the animation file and redirect the skeleton line in the upl file. It has always worked, but for some reason it doesn't work with this model. I guess it has something to do with the absence of death animations.

    Thanks for the zip.

    umods, store data somewhere as setup lists it as part of an ut2004 installation (like if you install the ECE bonus pack). The game thinks of the files listed in the setup (anything installed by umod does appear there ) as core files, thus it will make a client download them NO MATTER WHAT (unless downloads is off, then it will not let you join.)

    [edit] try running setup.exe in your ut2004 system directory you'll see what I mean.

    This is why I don't like them, bit of a pain on a LAN server

    Crimson Sigil: Since I'm getting so many good responses on this thread, I am leaning toward making another taunt anim. Also I have to fix this non-gibbing problem and I'd hate to keep pissing off people by making them download the same model so many times (this would be the 9th version). So, I'll try to get in the 4th animation along with the non-gibbing fix.

    Erez: I was completely unaware of this problem! Thanks for pointing it out, although it is kind of cool to have a model that cannot be .... broken? (puts pinky finger to lips) I may either do that model copy idea with a charred texture or resize the existing skeleton model and use that.

    Lakie: LOL /me smacks forehead. I didn't know that either. If/when I update the model (again) I'll remake the zip too.

    Make sure it gibs too. If you want it "unbreakable" just use the main mesh as the skeleton.

    Don't worry about not knowing, I didn't find out until I started making my LAN server, so I'll just pass on the information and hopefully people will know about.

    i like him a lot. i wonder what the folks online think whenever they see that they've been killed by Link? haha. nice model and animations. and for some reason the Link model solved the false "speed hack detected" issues i kept having on a certain server/

    Version 9 is out. Go to the first post on this thread for download link. I'll post more later, gotta go for now.

    Ok I'm back. Here's a changelog for version 9

    -Added 4th taunt
    -Cleaned up and slowed down existing 3 taunts (weapon movement behaves correctly now)
    -When Link dies by link gun or burned, he turns into soot covered Link
    -Link is now gibbable

    Still no death animations though. I'll try to get to those later.

    Are there any other sites I can download this model from? For some reason, whether I use firefox or IE, the download just stops once I reach 1.1MB. I tried pausing and restarting on firefox but it just won't go past 1.1MB.

    The download worked for me with the latest Firefox. :-P

    In any case, I want to make this model available to everyone, so look for it on Polycount soon.
