    Default Finger question

Which fingers do you use to control your movements? pinky, ring, middle? or ring, middle, pointer?

    (by "you" I mean non-newbies)

First three on the right hand as i said on the cursor keys for movement which makes my thumb rest naturally on the 0 of the numpad. Good job thats my jump key then

Same here. Pinky on A for crouching. My ring finger on S (left), my middle finger E (fwd) & D (back) and index on F (right). And thumb on space for jump. I think we ESDF peeps are a small minority.

I've always used WASD with my pinky, ring, and middle fingers to move around.. but this is the first game where movement is so crucial, so maybe I should change to use my ring, middle, and pointer? If I didn that I'd probably change to ESDF because I'm used to home row postition (stupid comp apps). What do you guys suggest?

Here is my take. Don't blindly follow the setups we give. It is you that you care about, so don't take what works for us and assume it will work for you. Find a setup you are comfortable with and stick with it until it becomes second nature. That will help out more than any setup we give because it is YOUR setup. Me I use EWDR, with my ring middle and index fingers on the movement keys because it is comfortable for my hand, and I get lots of keys to work with. If you are already comfortable with the setup you currently use why switch unless it is harming more than helping? IF YOU CAN'T BE SURE, DON"T SWITCH UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO WORK DILIGENTY FOR AT LEAST A MONTH FOR SEEMINGLY NO RETURN! If you are, go right ahead, just make sure to find out what works for you.

I'm only able to do that with my left hand... With right hand, the thumb rests on Ctrl
I use the three middle fingers

is crouching that important? why do so many of you have a finger for crouching?

crouching is good for sniping, because you can't fall off ledges - see tips at loading screen

and hardly anyone uses crouching in combat, so you may surprise your enemy with it /me playing mostly on public, can't say how it works against tougher foes

i'm using WASD cause i've been using it the all the time in the last 14 years :P. got minigun/rocket/flak/link/snipey rifle/shock on ERFCQC and the shield gun on Lshift (comes in handy when falling).

I think using E for vehicles is a waste of a good key.

    why?
its convenient, and its one of the most important abilitys you have, you need a key thats close to your movement keys for quick movement!

it may be important, but i rarely makes a difference wheter you get into a vehicle in 0.1 seconds or 0.2 seconds.

of course you might die if you can't get out fast enough, but after playing that long i've got a good timing with jumping out
