To run UT2004:
AMD Athlon 64 3400+
1GB RAM
200GB HD Drive
16x DVD-RW Drive
256MB Nvidia GeForce FX5500
Windows XP
I don't want to buy a better graphics card yet, So will this be a good system?

yes.
all except for the card![]()
yeah, I thought so. There are some Radeon 9800 Pros on eBay going for quite cheap, It's just that even with my current PC with the same graphics card, but 512MB RAM and 3.0GHZ, the framerate gets down to a slideshow in some parts of an onslaught level. Can you think of any way I could improve the framerate? (Without changing the detail settings)

The card will be fine I have a Geforce 4 Ti4400 and I get 40-45 fps with it and that on the Holy **** settings.

if you can aford that guess you could get another 512 of what u got
what kinda card do you have?
I would think that would be a great system, all things considered. I know my last Pentium 4 1.5 ghz PC with PC 133 memory had a SWEET bottleneck that limited the video card I used. No matter what, I just couldn't crawl above 15 fps. That changed when I switched to the AMD Athlon XP 3200+.
Might I suggest (if you are planning to build), to go with either the Athlon XP line or a slower 64 chip. The reason being, if you steer toward the XP line, you will probably be able to purchase a little cheaper memory than what the 64's like. This savings between price of chip, price of memory, and price of MOBO would probably help you with a future vidcard upgrade. GOOD LUDK!
