    Question CTF-Aquarion

If you downloaded this map before 12:10 PM (-4, Atlantic Time), then please download again, as I fixed an error.

    Name: CTF-Aquarion
    Version: 1.0
    Compatibility: UT2004
    Description: A fast-paced, CTF extravaganza!

Comments: My first map (besides a few I made on UT99). Very simple, not too fancy. Good for fast-paced action. I got my main inspiration from the CTF map from UT99 called CTF-OldSkool.

    Credits: Graeme "WarMachine" Stewart (me!)
    Homepage: Uhh.....
    Download: http://www.v-sef.com/crnet/CTF-Aquarion.zip

EDIT: Changed the images to JPG.
EDIT2: No need to click the links to view the images.
EDIT3: Fixed an error in the Map.

Looks good, but try saving the pics as .jpgs, just open them in paint and re-save them.

Thanks. The bots are kinda screwy in the main room part (that connects the two bases), but I wasn't really planning on it being used with bots. I just put the path nodes in as a last minute, what the heck, adjustment.

Heh I booted up this map and only got 30fps on flyby. Reason for this is that there are no antiportals, thus it renders way to many polygons than it has to.

Some constructive critisim for you. just keep in mind that I really liked the map alot.

-You should add some screen shots, it gives it a more profesional feel.

-I would sugest some zoning, It would really make the map run cleaner.

-I think the layout is very good, especially if this is your first map. It reminds me of the old quake 2 maps that relyed more on gameplay then flash. This is what a CTF layout should be. My only layout sugestion would be to mayby add a flack cannon or link gun, but I understand if your trying to keep it simple. Not enough small CTF maps out there. 9 of 10 gameplay wise!

-As far as the visuals, they are a little bland, but that in some ways makes it feel more quakish. Still, It could use some more deceration. You lighting is everything It needs to be, but things like caronas and emitters would add those visual sparks that every map needs.

-Bots also play really well as far as I can tell. Tey get stuck in the water sometimes, but overall very good.

I think that you design skills show a lot of petental, and I think that you just need some more experience in construction. Keep up the good work!

i like your level design, and i see lots of potential...

but i agree that it runs a little slow for the simple appearance

If you haven't been to unreal wiki before, it's a great place to learn about everything you need for working in unreal.

Zoning, portals, and antiportals are ways of optimizing your map so it runs better. They work on the concept that you don't have to draw what you can't see. Use the link I gave you and search "zoning". You should be able to find a zoning tutorial. This should help you alot.

Thank you guys so much. Using your humble advise, I am going to start Operation: Awesome AKA Make a totally rad map! This map is going to be so cool, that you'll crap your pants. Alright, so I don't expect it to be that cool, but it'll be better then CTF-1on1-Joust! What were they thinking? 1 on 1 CTF?

Be careful, Blaze. CTF-Joust in my opinion was a brilliant and original way of basically creating a new game type by simply playing with CTF variables. It's actually like jousting! It also has something that most maps don't, originality. How often do you see a map that stands out that much? Joust actually inspired me for my next map I'm about to release. I can't blame you for not liking a map that I do, though. Just a difference of opinion

By the way, I'm glad to see you are keeping up the good work. In my opinion I think that you should re-work Aquarion before you start on a new map. I just think It has so much potential. Good luck in whatever you do next though!

    Question working link?

Does anyone have this map? I can't find it anywhere. Thank you.

EDIT: Um, still can't find this one. I guess it's lost forever.
