    Default Problems with manual file installation (UT2004)

    OK, so I download a zipfile (say, the Raptor model), open it, extract the separate components to the directories as specified in the readme, i.e.

    RaptorSkins.utx = UT2004/Textures
    Raptor.ukx = UT2004/Animations
    RaptorVoice.u = UT2004/System
    Raptor.upl = UT2004/System
    Raptor.ka = UT2004/KarmaData

    ...start up UT...and the model isn't there! Tried this several times, but they simply refuse to show up. This never happened with classic UT (which, IMO, had a far superior menu setup, among other things). UMOD files, otoh, seem to work just fine (haven't tried models yet, though; couldn't find any nice ones that format). What's up??

    well, 90% of times, you just extract to ../ut2004/ and it puts it in the right place.

    look in your textures folder, is there a textures folder in your textures folder? (there shouldnt be, and if there is try the above, i have the model )

    Well I'll be damned, it actually worked... thanks dude! :up: Now, the question is, what do you do with those other 10%?

    Yes, there are a couple of such (new) folders-within-folders (not just textures). Should I just delete them or something?

    Delete them ... you need to clean up you folders and they were incorrectly install ... no harm.
