    Default Incredible!

This is the AS map I have been waiting for since I heard about AS for UT2K4. Epic should hire you just to make AS maps. Everyone else making AS maps you are now on notice ... this is the new standard by which future AS maps will be held to. 'Nuff said. Peace and thnx so much for such an amazing AS map. The amount of effort this must have taken ... awesome.

its not bad. but the objectives could have been alot more interesting. Also, I hope admins realize this map needs double the normal clock countdown time than regular maps, since its so ****ing big. other than that its cool, it runs very good on my machine too, while looking good.

it's takes awhile to complete (much longer than the default 10 minutes) but if you can find a server that has a 20-25 minute timelimit then this map is pure gold...the atmosphere of it is incredible...reminds me of like stalingrad set in the future...I love how everything has this rundown...and broken type look...awesome smoke effects as well

    Default Love this map

The intro is great! The gameplay on my system is great! The MAP is awesome! Objectives are varied enough ... and even bot support is pretty damn good. Playing on Adept and the bots didn't behave to badly and my teammates saved my hide on several occasions!

Thanks for making a map that doesn't leave those of us who don't play online out of the loop  . Peace.

Looks like AS maps just got a wakeup call. Hopefully everyone who is planning an AS mission (of any type) will take a close look at this map and take note of the things that work in an AS map and what doesn't. In any case this really does set a new benchmark. I had way more fun on the AS Map than the ones shipped with the product and this map is better than the AS-CBP2 map. And to think more AS maps are on the way!!! Hooray ... Assault is not dead!!!

Yep this map is a gem for AS gametype!!!!!!!

The only thing I did not like is that all the objectives are destroy objectives and also it does not have an ending seq. But the start seq is damn cool. The atmo is amazing in this!

    Great job!

Some minor getting getting stuck bugs in places but design wise it is hard to keep bugs low in such a map.

This map gives back life to AS mappers

The map I played consisted of 10 Destroyable Objectives, 3 of which required 2 seperate things to be destroyed. Each Destroyable Objective took a massive amount of damage (20 direct hits with goliath main fire did not destroy one) before finally being destroyed...I fail to see the variety here.

The Defenders received avrils every step of the way and that, combined with the countless turrets and sentinels on the defenders' side, sent the attackers' vehicles flying. The driver and anyone attempting to run in on foot (the fools) are made short work of.

On average, when the teams are completely balanced, the map takes about 25-30 minutes to complete. (i thought that the 15 Jailbreak originally took was way too long...this is nearly twice as much)

I agree that this is a nice change from the unnecessarily massive amount of racing maps that have dominated Assault mode, but with all the praise that this has been getting, I was extremely disappointed when I played it.

To be honest, if this map was shrunken down and changed to VehicleDM, it would be great, but that's not the case here.

Some changes I would suggest (unless you wanna stick with this as the final version):

    1) Remove all sentinels on the Defender's side.

    2) Increase the number of vehicles for Attackers (the problem is more noticable in bigger games).

    3) DEFINATELY reduce the damage that needs to be taken for the objectives (or if you want to keep the "need to be in a vehicle to survive" theme, add a vehicle damage multiplier...it's in the objective properties)

    4) This map is very open, but forces the players to follow a very linear path to the objectives, make side paths and alternate routes, possibly a way to make it plausible to go on foot.

    5) Please.....add at least ONE objective other than destroy objectives, it's way too repetitive as is.

I gotta hand it to ya though...the graphics, bot pathing, and matinee are nice, please don't try to use them to cover for the gameplay.

Everyone is definitely entitled to his/her own opinion but since the majority of the folks on this thread (so far ) REALLY like this map, just keep up the GREAT work. Despite some of it's bugs the MAP is an excellent map (especially when compared to the current crop of AS maps) ... an ending would have been nice ... but hell I wanted a decent AS map so bad and I have played the 7 or 8 that I have too many times, so I'm glad you released this beauty.

You should send this off to Nalicity and Insite (I'm curious to see how sandorski and manticore would like this ... they are excellent map reviewers). As far as the comment about bot pathing ... for me the bots behave about as good as in many of the other ONS, AS maps. I never expect the bots to be that helpful ... just to take some fire for me and watch my back. Rarely do I need bots to actually perform an objective ... they are just good to play, especially in the beginning as you can kinda follow them to get a feel of which way you need to go if you get lost.

And again I will say, as a QA engineer working with software and firmware, bugs are ALWAYS going to exist in SW and Sw can always be improved upon, this is a stone cold fact. However, you've got to at some point release a product and then wait for the users to give you feedback so you can go over the areas that need tweaking. I have worked with over 200+ SW engineers in my years in the biz and NONE of them ever released a bug free product EVER.

So in conclusion and IMHO this is the AS map that works the best. Placing explosives at a few different places while blowing away your enemies with specialized weoponry is what I was looking for ... if this map is not your cup of tea I can respect that with no problem. However, you should realize that AS is the only standard UT2K4 gametype where you get to act like an explosives expert, so it's only fair that most of the time that is what you are doing.

In ONS the goal is always the same .... destroy the PC ... so I don't see the difference ... sorry. In CTF you shoot people and carry a flag, in TDM/DM you shoot people, in ONS you shoot people and shoot PCs and Nodes... so I think that it's okay to make AS missions with explosives galore. Anyway that's my opinion and I have nothing more to say but I LOVE THIS MAP.

So far I believe the map author met his goal of supplying a stunning AS Map. 8 out of 10 people seem to agree so far. Peace.

Exodus - "Me, I like blowing things up ... welcome to my world." - Unknown ex-CIA operative

JeffMD: BTW I put shake on the enemy team and he did a decent job of creating headaches for me and my bot team. Maybe you are right and the pathing could be better but I'll take it the way it is anyday. I need to play the map agan to be honest because I didn't notice that to be honest.

Edited: Sorry JeffMD ... I confused you with the guy who made the Shake model ... I apologize. Also, after going back and playing the map for just a few minutes (in god mode ... just testing) I must admit that some of the items raised regading the map's gameplay may have some merit. Alternate paths would indeed make the map more enjoyable but would this create other problems? Don't know ... only an actual unreal world use could answer this and so we'll either have to wait for an update to this map or better yet, perhaps we'll see a new map which addresses any shortcomings so far pointed out. Eiither way the community wins ! I still Love this map despite any flaws it may have.

Edited again: Okay ... I will have a small portion of that crow:cry: . So sue me I guess I was overwhelmed by the beauty of this map and how it worked with the SP ladder intro but I have to admit I didn't get to place any explosives or open any doors. I thought one of my bots placed the explosives but I was dead wrong. Man! How the hell did I miss that!? Zerstorung was dead on when he asked are we playing the same map ... duuhhh!

Goes to show I didn't understand Zerstorung's post at all ... should've paid more attention ... he really played through the map carefully I didn't ... so embarassed . And to think I'd been sorta complaining about lack of explosive use and repetitive to acc ... man do I have egg on my face. Though it may not have the snazzy intro or the slick look, AS-Cirban is actually more fun to play ... as an AS-Map (I still want to BLOW somehting up ... am I revealing too much about my nature :weird:?). Maybe me and my bots are lazy, but we do like to do nothing but stand in place in order to complete an objective ... at least some of the times.

So maybe this would have made a better ONS or VCTF ... that I don't know ... anyway I still think this map is a really well made but I'll agree, reluctantly, that there are some gameplay issues Please don't lay into me to heavily ... especially you acc ... yes your map had more variety than this one; however, even you have to admit that the concept, design, scale and look of the map is damn near retail quality (don't you think ?).

Now my time is really over on this thread ... it's been a blast but time to watch some ATHF!!

you know...at first I was too...I was and still am kinda disappointed that it does take so long to complete and you do have a lot of dying on the attackers side...but I dunno...after awhile of just playing it I started to like it a bit more...on the 5th (I think?) point where there's two objectives to kill if you can attack from both sides at the same time...at least one guy is bound to slip though and raise some hell on the turrets...may take a few tries but it'll happen eventually...

Great map, the waiting was worth it. Didn't expect it this soon! :haha:

Anyway, definitely note that the time needs to be upped. The defenders aren't doing their job right if anyone ever beats this map in 10 minutes.

Besides that, there are a few glitches here and there, but I'm not going to get picky with such a cool map.
