Default UT2004 patch = lag and weapon fire drop outs...

Well, I put off installing the patch. My setup has been running awesome- even better online, but I wanted to play Alien swarm- so i HAD to install the patch... well GUESS WHAT- now I have lag/hitches on all servers and frame rate even seems lower. Also now half the time I fire weapons in heavy battle no projectiles are visible comming out of the guns/launchers although they are doing damage. And Yes, I cleared my cache before I even installed the patch.
Anyway- I guess all the horror stories were of merit. So to conclude- EPIC please PATCH THE PATCH

    Specs:
    I have aDSL- 3.0m down, 384k up
    mobile xp2600+@ 2400mhz 200bus
    1gig ram (2x512s dual channel mode 200bus cl2)
    GF FX5900XT
    nvidia soundstorm sound
    8m cache WD SE hdds
    blah blah blah...

I see you liked my comments
Even as much to be honored with a sig quote- lol...

So is anyone else experiencing these issues after the patch, or anyone who is NOT experiencing these issues I mentioned above?
I also want to make sure its just the patch causing it and not any of the alien swarm mod since I installed the both at the same time.
    thanks.

had some problems previously because my line was laggy. have none now.

    i have a pretty standard athlon/nforce2/radeon/win98se setup.

the one thing the patch didn't provide was to increase the framerates, though.

I've still got the lag--latency because I'm on a cable-modem--plus I'm experiencing The All New Extra Weirdness of disappearing ammo. I've got a complete backup copy of version 3186 on a hard drive...I'll probably blow away the "patched" version and play 3186 until a new patch is released.
