DUDE! how do you do skies correctly, I can't seem to get them lit right, and I'll cut a hole in a cieling, to get out side and see it, and I just die instantly over and over.

You need to find yourself a good tutorial....
Heh...
Look in the already-made maps and see how everything is wired.
Sorry, I can't tell - need more info. How knowledgable are you about UnrealEd?
fake backdrop and skyboxes are the key:up:
Simpel make a cube do inside a cool sky and or utx the wall!
Or look and read some tutorails at www.unrealops.com and look for the section beginnners!!!

Hmmm, okay I'll give you the answer then.... :bulb:
Make your map
Completely seperate from your map, make a box (say 512x512x512, or 1024x1024x1024) and make this box look like a sky, including lighting and everything. In the middle of the box, add a SkyZoneInfo actor.
In your level, select the roof of your map, or where you want the sky to be, and from the texture properties, check Fake Backdrop.
Rebuild.
To actually see the sky in the editor, select in the 3d viewport "View Backdrop" (or hotkey K)
Thanks Thunder Tom. I'll try it and see if it works for me. One prob....I don;t see sky info in the actor classes browser.

and there are some nice static meshes available for skys
Yeah, I noticed. But some of them have the default Grey Bubbly texture set. How do you change that?!Originally posted by Captain_anarchy

Mesh properties -> Display -> Skins
Make a new skin, choose your texture in your texture browser, go to your new skin in the mesh display, left click it and choose "use" from the small selection of options that appear. This will apply your texture over the default skin(s)/texture(s) present on the mesh.

one thing you may want to do is set the textures of your skybox to Unlit. this will (in contrast to what you may think) show the texture without light effects (shade and such) affecting it. This way you dont have to mess around with lighting.
I followed the tutorial which has a skyball, but the skyball is stars,so i tried to change it to antalus sky but it wouldn't work.how can i make a daytime sky?Originally posted by BtDMH

)
or you can read the tutorial that is stickied on this forum about sky etc, it would beso much easier
Ok i can make good skies now, even 2 per level. but I still have one serious problem. My fake backdrops are unrealistically collideable. I read somewhere, in reference to raven shield( runs on Ued) that you need the appropriate texture. I've tried the generic "sky zone" tex. But no dice. Whats up with that?
You should put your fake backdrops too far away for the player to touch them.
I  the Skyrenders package
That is all![]()
I've tried putting the fake backdrops "far away", gay and does'nt work. There has got to be a way to make no impact effect availible. I know SOMEONE knows how to do it. I'll try sky renders but I've used them before to no avail, I belive . I could be remembering wrong though.
I lll post stupid gay $hit in here to put it close to the top of threads list, in hopes of getting a response.
