    Default Is my map dead?

Ive been trying many different ways to let my map survive, but everytime i try to compile (or build in ut2004 editors case) the program closes.

i have tried removing loads of other rooms, copying and pasting the map onto a new board, updated graphics card drivers (this was reccomended elsewhere) but still the map dies out.

Is there something else i could try?

Export the map (via the file menu) then re-import it.

About the crash, it does it too on my PC, so might now be his drivers, I copied it on another new map worked for me, I resent it to him, he did something and it crashed back.

Did you install the new patch? i've heard a few people have been having editor problems with it. If you have installed it, try uninstalling and reinstalling the game again.

weeks and weeks ago i installed a patch that lets you play the game without the disk, and fixes laods of bugs in the game, and is supposed to make the game run a bit better.

ill try a reinstall, hopefully it will work.

btw, out of curiosity, where is the offical place to get the patch? my friend got the patch im using now from a post somewhere but atari (or whoever) didnt release the patch officially.

If you downloaded a patch weeks and weeks ago, then you must have downloaded a beta. If you've got a beta patch running on your machine then that might be the problem, since it is probably riddled with bugs itself.

Try building your maps with the stock version of the game, then take a look at this thread and find yourself a mirror for the patch. See if you can still build the map with the new patch.

Don't worry, the patch is official. It's just that Atari haven't got their arses in gear and announced it yet.

tried it in two more ways:

reinstalled, without any patches, editor still crashed

    added 3204 patch, still crashed

if this map is 'dead', that would be nearly a month of hard work gone

did you take a peak at the logs? maybe that will tell you what is going on to kill that map of yours.
