    Post DM-Q1DM5 - The Cistern [Pics]

    I must admit i never really played this map that much in the Q1 days, but the layout is cool, and i had some ideas on spicing it up.

    Probably not done, ill probly end up fiddling around with it whenever i get bored for a few days and add in more details. Im thinking vaulted or maybe just arched cieling in the water pit, maybe some other stuff if i can find some statics that fit and dont suck. For now its like 95% BSP only.

    Bots play good, they dont understand the rocket launcher room though, no suprise there, ive never managed to make a bot open a frigging door that uses a trigger.

    Nice one, keep these Quake maps coming, will try this out when I get home from work

    Btw, I'd love to see Brimstone Abbey converted (Quake 3 map).

    Any chance??

    I have a few maps that i would like to see converted from a different game. If you think you'd be able to handle it please let me know on irc #Xeno.
    The 3 maps i'm talking about come from the quake series.. Q1 to be exact. Dm6, Dm2 were the biggest 1v1 maps out there aside from Dm4. And dm3 was a tdm map.
    If there is anyone interested in remaking these into ut2k4. Please let me know. they were huge maps back in the day and i'm pretty sure they would be pretty big with the 2k4 community. I'm atleast 80-100% of the community would like it. Depending on how the remakes are.
    A member on the prou forums had some ideas about some other q1 remakes that you may look at possibly. I'm not sure if he's got in touch with anyone about it, but I posted link to this thread about your remake and maybe he'll contact you about those. *shrug*

    Enos,

    In that last picture, iirc, you were able to use the base of the two rear pillars jump up onto the platform youv'e taken the piccie from to cut people off or engage them quickly.. is there anything you can do there to aid that?

    Wish I could help on the RL door issue but I'm just a mere mortal player. Good luck with it, cause it's looking real nice. Looking forward to it.

    Now if I could just get you or anyone else to remake Q2's Match1 Map ... Reckless Abandon .. released with the last Q2 patch , life would be dandy

    Interesting, i didnt remember that. I loaded up GLQuake and was unable to do that. Not without a rocket jump, which should work just as well in 2004. I havent decided whether to put those pillars in or not. I would have to move or delete my cool cieling decoration for them.

    The one thing i really wish i had for this map (And DM3 when i get around to it) would be a specialized watervolume that kills any players in it when someone fires off a link gun alt fire. "player discharges into the water" would crack me up again.

    I've been trying to log in here all day just to say that LOL.

    Since you said you were working on dm3 from q1.. I'd be more than happy if you needed someone to test the map out for you...
    Something someone brought to my attention with the dm5 level though was the scaling? I havent seen it yet as i've been at work all day but i'd definately give it a go when i get home...

    If you want stop by #xeno on ETG please.. Since you are making q1 maps I'd be interested in helping out anyway i could

    re: Pillars ... Hmmmm... pretty sure it could be done. But it's been like almost 5 - 7 years since I played it. Oh well if you say it can't then I'll take your word on it.

    re: Ceiling .... Don't go breaking up your map just on the account of my desires man either ... it's your map and either way I'm sure as hell gonna be downloading and playing it

    re: player discharges... yeah would sure bring a smile to my face as well.

    Good luck with em chap .. looking forward to seeing the finished product.

    I love the maps.. dm1, dm4 and dm5... I downloaded them all
    I do have to say though you have a really good eye with the maps. Only thing that i found somewhat different was the scaling. Now i could be just used to ut.. But everything seems soo big.. It's not at all a bad thing. Would just take me time to get used to..

    Also i didnt know if you meant to or not but the dm4 remake although awesome.. But it seemed alot different. I dont know if you are finished with it or if you are still finishing it... However the scaling there seems to be a bit off also.. Everything seemed soo tight..

    dm1 owned.. i loved it... the weapons placement on it was cool too.. Nice job on that
    The weapon placements on the other maps i dont know if you are going to leave it as that or not?

    All in all man i love the work!!!

    Scaling on remakes should always intentionally be larger, since UT adds doublejumping and dodging.

    I lack a life so ill probably do all 6 of the original DM maps. DM6 next probly since i have some ideas for it.

    Anyone do The Edge from Q2 yet? That was an awesome map. I used to play it all the time back in the day.

    I know i saw a thread somewhere about it, yeah someone is working on it. That was a killer map. That and tokays towers.

    Thumbs up great remake!

    the cistern; great details with textures/meshes, rocks, paths, rusty pipes, underwater area, dripping water, teleporters and mist; good gameplay, fun and bots are good.
