    Default ut2k4 Vehicle WiP - Deathball

    Well, here is a screenshot of my first vehicle for ut2k4 =)



    The skin is just temporarely as i used a existing skin to create my own wrapping, so please dont mind the mess

    here are some images in the max viewer:






    Basically its like those iron cage balls ive seen in a movie once, but you can actually steer this one. It has no weapons whatsoever that shoots, but it has a charge skill. With primary attack you charge like the charge cannon on the hellbender, and when you release it, you shoot yourself towards the enemy with shields up and charged with electrical current. Imagine a pinball at fullspeed Damages vehicles perfectly

    His second alt fire is a jump attack most likely of the manta, but instead jumping harmlessly, his shields will light up and the ball is charged . Then you can use the crouch button to let it drop onto the poor sod below the ball or vehicle. Imagine a ball jumping up and down on a goliath =P

    Its weakness is that the driver can be harmed with explosives and the regular speed is not enough to avoid misiles (as fast as a scorpion) . hence the shields it needs when its charged up

    I need help with the scripting though I always geta weird index bone error when i want to make it work to use the cage as a wheel :cry:

    oh and its only 3k polygons so it should work

    would be fun if the were arenas where you have to bump other players off. like... monkeyball or something?

    looks great anyways

    cant help with scripting soz :/

    This is SO unique ... i love it ... but you got a 'regular' chair stuck in the middle of it for the player ... i think you should stretch the uniqueness even more and put the player prone ... like on a speed motorcycle ... where the player basically lays on their stomach straddling the engine ... hands out for steering and head forward towards the target ...

    I dont know if this would be harder to do with the current skins ... do they have limitations for looking up? (in this case up would be forward)

    Very similar concept to this.

    I look foward to seeing both in-game Would be fun to crash around just with balls and wheels.

    I think the Karma kicks in when a player is prone. That's why we couldn't get UT style feigning death in UT2K3/4.

    What is Karma? Not in an existentialist sense ... i get that ... in a UT sense ... lol

    You are kidding, right? Okay, if you aren't, (I'm only saying this if you or anyone else who might read this are new to the UT2K3/4 series) Karma is the programmming that takes over a player model animation after you get fragged. It runs the death sequences that look so cool. When the body is in a less than vertical position, Karma kicks in and allows for the "ragdoll" death effects in the game. Trick jumps that have flipping animations do not trigger Karma, nor does riding in a vehicle.

    I would've thought Karma would be triggered more directly than that, by some uscript event or something.
    I mean.. you die while you're standing up.. then Karma kicks in and ragdolls you until you're in whatever position you die in.

    Yes I noticed that wheel of death too, someone noticed me that there was a similar thing after I was done with mine
    That vehicle looks bad ass that I cant wait to see that in game

    Im still having problems though, getting index_none error when I try to replace the mesh of the scorpion :cry: If anyone can help me with it getting it ingame and help me with scripting, it would help alot!

    I'm sure there is some kind of script that executes Karma. After your player is killed, the body becomes "less than upright" and that is when the Karma kicks in. That was the explanation DrSiN posted way back sometime before the UT2K3 demo release concerning the lack of the"feign death" technique many players used in UT. I can't remember all the details.

    btw, for the players pose set up it wouldnt be too hard. Vehicle scripting include of rotating and setting the players bones, so basically you can have the player seated in every way possible. No karma included. Just have a rotator in the vehicle and a rotater whn he steps out:up:
