    Default random lockups

    Hello

My problem is UT2004 freezing. Sometimes it freezes after 1 hour, but sometimes after 10 seconds.
I've had the same problem with UT2003 before, but I could play the UT2004 demo without any problems so I bought the game yesterday.
I've already searched for viruses and installed the ASPI drivers, but there's still this problem.

    Here are my system specs:
    Athlon XP 3000+
    MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR (Nforce 2)
    1024 MB Corsair ram
    Sapphire Radeon 9700 Pro

and this is the log file of one crash:
    Code:

Do you get any Windows general protection fault errors and/or standard error messages from Windows and not the game itself?

I don't get any errors, just a freeze.
And I've got this problem only with UT 2003/2004.

Do you know exactly what version of Direct X you are using?

    If version 9, is it 9.0, 9.0a, or 9.0b ?

ut2004 is currently using directx 8.1 extensions as DX9 support hasn't yet been implemented so i doubt thats a big issue

If that is true, then why do the requirements state Direct X 9.0b or higher??? If DX 9.0b is included with the game as a requirement, but anything lower is being used, I can see some problems.

I have that problem too and it's highly annoying . The computer completely freezes on random situations without a warning. I could tolerate it if it crashed to desktop so i just would have to reload the game, but every time it happens I have to hit reset and reboot the whole computer. Sometimes it happens once an hour but once I had to reboot 3 times in 15 minutes . It seems it happens most often when I'm flying with raptor, but it still happens if i'm on foot. Bots may also have something to do with it. I get this only in onslaught but I don't really play other modes too often so I don't really know if I'd get that if I played . The techsupport gives really farfetchd solutions for this IMO. And BTW This happened also in demo.

    directx 9.0b
    ATI Radeon 9000 pro 64MB
    MSI K7N2 delta motherboard

Stupid techsupport.... they simply don't know do they? LOL (I'm one to talk since I used to be one).

Is it only in Onslaught u have the problems? This could be somehow related to memory/vid memory/swap file. I only base that on the thought that Onslaught maps would consume more resources due to their large size and scope. But I could be very wrong.

Well it seems to be only in onslaught. I play assault every now and then but it has never crashed. I installed CachemanXP to monitor the memory usage and it seems UT is consuming a fair deal of it but I think it is holding up nicely. Assault maps seem to be the most power consuming, at least I run them at 25fps average (or even below) and in onslaught it is near 35fps (or even above ). I'm used to low framerates and can play just fine but the crashing is really annoying me.

    Oh and forgot to mention
    AMD athlon XP 2000+ (1,67GHz)
