I've got a graphics card capable of 8 AGP but I've only got an 4 AGP slot. Would it be expensive to upgrade my comp so I can use 8 AGP? Or in other words what do I need to be able to use 8 AGP?

You will only need a vid card that supports 8x (if that is what you want to spend $$$ on .... that is all. If you have a 4x card, most mobo's will support it.
EDIT Oops ...my bad ... mis-read the post.
Card should be fine in that respect ... not worth the cash to replace the mobo for 8x as i have not seen a difference in the 4x to 8x switch myself.
Well, unless you get the Mainboard for a really good price, It's not worth it.
The main factor of your Graphics Speed is still the GPU (The Processor of your Graphics Card).
So 8x won't make such a big difference to 4x.
Also, if you change your Mobo, you will most likely encounter problems with your software.
This isn't worth it. Unless you have plenty of money and time to waste.
8x agp has been shown to only truly be more like 5.5x agp, so imo it is not worth upgrading unless you have the extra cash burning a hole in your pocket because you will not see much, if any of a difference![]()
8x AGP isn't worth it. Unlike AGP 4x, it only operates on rising edge of the clock.Originally posted by Gp-Zero
