I just released the deathmatch map DM-FST-SpaceNoxx for Unreal Tournament 2004 (download link is at the bottom of this post).
When Liandri spotted another one of the mysterious platforms floating in deep space, they quickly decided to carry it into Earth's orbit to make it another Tournament arena.
This platform is slightly bigger than the old one used in the early days of the Tournament. Although old and tarnished the plasma still powers the energy-pool making it a deadly trap for those who didn't fell off the platform before.
This map is a remake of DM-SpaceNoxx from the classic UT.
I tried to get as close as possible to the original gameplay. It is slightly wider to fit the dodge-jumping in the low LowGrav environment. You also still can do the trick jumping on the slopes of the big Pillars; you need to use the outer supports for landing and dodge from there again, due to the different physics of UT2004.
I wanted the looks a bit more elegant but old and tarnished at the same time, to get the original Unreal feeling into this map. The music is KR-Assault that has the same style as the original SpaceNoxx music, but has a darker and more dramatic mood. Also the energy pool in the middle now looks actually dangerous.
I also added two secret areas into the map.
The map has been carefully tested and there are no known bugs. Here are some comments from the public Beta 1:
Great map. Much better than the other remakes imo.
I have downloaded the map. Scale is OK, details are nice and to make long talk short, map looks really promising.
nice map, i love it
This map is a favorite.
This is the first map we play when we start and the last map we play when we're done. Great warm up and cool down.
Just download the map and expand the .zip archive into your UT2004 directory, all files should then go into the right directory. If you're having problems with installing it, read the readme.txt file or manually put the following file into their directories:
DM-FST-SpaceNoxx.ut2 => Maps
DOWNLOAD (5.8 MB)
Have Fun playing it, comments and feedback are appreciated. :up:
