My computer crashed when I tried Gamespy. Is it related to "no launch" problem?
Browsing around this forum, I've noticed that a lot of people have had a problem I have where the game refuses to launch. The splash screen pops up, but no game.
When this happened, I tried using Gamespy arcade to get to a server list there, hoping that it would let me play. So I clicked on a server, it started to load, and told me I had to fill out a user name and password, etc. so it could track my stats. It seemed normal. But while I was there, I tried to change the resolution and it crashed. So after restarting, I tried againt connect with a server, and I tried to change the character, and, again, it crashed. I stayed away from the technical stuff in the preferences after that, just filling out the profile.
So after that, I tried connecting to a game again, and since it has either brought up a loading screen, then crashed the computer or quit, or taken me to a black screen with an IP address on it. It would stay there until I pressed esc, then it would let me hit a quit button without crashing, or it would let me try and access the main menu, which would crash the computer.
When I tried to use Gamespy to try singleplayer, it did the old "splash screen, no launch" thing that we all know and love by now.
Is this crashing and quitting related to the bug that's refusing to let gamers open UT2K4?
My computer's specs are completely in line with the game's recommended specs.
That's what I figured. Yup, if it's a glitch in the game that won't let it open, no third party will open it.
I was just worried that the fact that it crashed was a different problem than the inability of the game to open. .
Anyways, I don't want to use any hacks or no-cd cracks or whatnot. I hope Atari or Epic addresses the problem soon.
