Post Unreal Ops Exclusive: Onslaught Mapping Tutorial

With a new game comes plenty of new things to write tutorials about! I have just completed a new tutorial that covers mapping for the new Onslaught gametype. In my opinion these are the easiest types of maps to make, so even if you don't consider yourself good at the editor, you should give it a try! Head on over and take a look!

Cool, but it doesn't say where to find the ONSManualGunPawn (Energy Turret). I can't seem to find it under SVehicleFactory or JumpDest.

    Wait nevermind, just found it.

For those of you who want to know it's under Pawn -> Vehicle-> ONSWeaponPawn.

    Thanks for that link.

one way i found to do this before (i made a map with a confusing layout for ut2k3 so did an aerial map and cant see why this wouldnt work for this) is to hide everything in the editor that you dont want showing on the map, including volumes, lights and fine detail and turn on realtime preview.
Then maximise the perspective view, zoom out until you have the whole map encompassed looking stright down and take a screenshot.
Edit in image prog of your choice and import to ued.

Nice one on getting this tutorial out so soon angel.

Thanks for the tutorials, I am still learning about mapping, the VTMs included in SE edition are pretty good. I have been thinking about doing an Onslaught map when I get a bit better at it.

    Default Thats good and all...

I recently got the game later than most (one day after original release ) and came across angel mappers tutorial stuff. I can achieve most of the stuff but I think you need to make an Uber n00b tutorial for people like me . If you do choose to help me out could you include like texturing making the basic terrain adding crappy skies so forth. I feel fairly stupid asking for this but I want to master this editor so I can join the unreal editing community. I have done stuff with half-life (modelling, map making and making mods) in which I was quite proficient so it kinda shows Im not a total noob :haha:
Thanks (in advance) for any help you can give Angel (or anyone else if they want to help)

I find the best way is to use the top view and make everything not show exept terrain, maximize it and take a screenie.

I'm having a problem where when I go into the game and try to setup my links, either both my power cores (I have a red and blue) arent showing or all my nodes wont show up in the mini-map!! If I exit out of the game and then go back in, they change around again in what shows up!! I just can't seem to get the game to recognize the power cores and all the links at one time to set them up!!

And I am talking about on the link setup, not in the game!!

I know they dont show up until you set up the links!!

    Whats the problem, Angel???????????

Great job Angel_Mapper! I'm surprised there isn't some kind of build in utility to do the overhead screen for the radar though.... oh well...

not sure if this has been mentioned or if angel knows this yet, but you have to make sure you make your maps in the center 0,0,0 of the UED build grid, also subtract your map space before your skybox space.

Ive heard making your map in other places or creating a skybox first can cuause problems...

I know blitz had a problem with this, and maybe angel or Blitz can explain this more than my poor attempt now...
