ut2k4 hanging on 9800pro/athlon 64 3000+ system

I have been experiencing periodic lockups while playing UT2k4. Sometimes it will run fine for 2 hours, other times it will crash after five minutes. My system:

Asus K8V Deluxe
Athlon 64 3000+
Radeon 9800pro
1 gig pc3500 Ram

Anyone with a similar system experiencing lockups as well? Any help?

well i will let u know if anything happens. i hope you solve your problem cause it reminds me of my athlon 1600+ days when i would play a game and it would freeze up. i was told it was a memory pc133 problem on my board. i never found out the truth. i had to play under my true cpu speed in order to play any game. which sucked. so i really feel your pain man. those days for me are over it seems. i wish this becomes the same for you.

I had faulty RAM that would only work fine in UT2004 etc if I switched from DDR 400 settings to DDR 333. After getting new memory sticks, things were just fine!

There are a few memory test programs out there. I think you should check out www.memtest.org. Run the complete test (about 5 hours) and check the results for errors. Errors=return your memory sticks for new ones.

Maybe,a memory timing issue or a heat issue... might possibly try raising the voltage to the dimms...also raise agp voltage a notch.

My friend had the same problem. It has to do with the mobo, iirc. It's AGI problem on the mobo on certein Athlon boards from a company. a 4-in-1 or something like that, I think. Sorry I can't be more specific, but I didn't pay too much attention(I'm an intel guy) and my friend isn't around right now, so I can't ask him. Will post more when I can if no one else has.
