    Default installed another 512 ram

Had 512 ram installed another 512 stick and BAMMM smooth as a babies butt. Definete improvement big time. No frame rate drop and no weird hipcups going into maps. When quiting ut2k4 no crazy hd actup. Highly recommended.

Another weird improvement is that when in spector mode I used to not see the inside of the vehicle cockpit now I do. Fanfukintastic, Loading map times is as fast as the demo too maybe 10 seconds for most maps on my machine.

I'm very glad to hear that. I thought I had a pretty good system (save for only having 512MB RAM) but each level takes over a minute to load so I miss the beginning of the game and some times the game freezes for 10 seconds or so (long enough to get toasted in a game).

I ordered another 512MB and it should be here tomorrow. I really hope that resolves my probs.

I'd like to upgrade my ram. Where does one buy it? How does one figure out which ram to get for a computer (or laptop in my case). How much does it cost typically for a laptop? Is it easy to install?

It rely depends which laptop you have. Go to the manufacturere's website (i.e. Dell) and see what kind of memory you can get. Or just search on google.com for memory and your laptop model. Most websites that sell laptop memory have chart with different model names. Also see how much total memory your laptop supports, and how much you have in already. There's usially only 2 slots available. Installing RAM is very eazy, you just unscrew small cover on the buttom and insert memory there...

Like Shocker said you need to find out from your manufacturer what RAM you need. Then I go to www.pricewatch.com and look for the best deals there.

    Big Grin

This is pretty sad, IMO. No game currently on the market should require nearly 1GB of RAM.

I've got 512 and I guess I'm going to have to upgrade, but I'm not going to be able to afford another 512 even though memory is back to being cheap.

I only hope another 256 will help out a bit.

You don't have to. It's qute playable with 512Mb. Just turn of Skin Precatch option. I'm getting more memory cause I want to run game with all details turned up to the MAX.
