Onslaught freezes my computer

I have problem runing onslaught games.. in fact I only ran one succesful game of onslaught to date.. the game always crashes on me almost every time.. I only tried two maps to date... Arctic Stronghold ran juste fine with the default settings but Crossfire always freezes! The only thing I can think of is the number of bots.. I'm gonna try and specify a low number of bots just to see if the game still freezes..

Anyway my computer specs are:

Athlon XP 1700+
512 megs of RAM
ATI 8500 64 Megs of video RAM

Any help would be appreciated

decreasing the number of bots in the map didn't help at all... I'm begining to be out of ideas...
