    Default Errors compiling 2225

OK, noob to Unreal programming here, but I seem to have a pretty fundamental problem.

I have 2225 and the 2225 source installed. When I do a "UCC make" (without making any changes besides deleting the .U files beforehand) I get the following error (in this case I just deleted XWeapons.U to see if I could compile one file):

Any ideas? Do I need to do some sort of different install? Sorry if this is a simple question.

You can't [easily] compile the existing UT scripts. Epic made sure of that. There's the missing texture thing that you experienced. There are also some well-hidden typos. Some files are missing altogether. And I'm sure there are more booby-traps that I have yet to find.

It's not meant to be compiled, it's meant to be used as a reference.

you can't and shouldn't recompile the original files.
you can't because: data files (textures/sounds/etc.) that belong in those packages are not included with the source code drops.
you shouldn't because: there's no need, and it will only break network compatibility.

    Default OK Thanks

OK, thanks guys. I must have been imagining that I was able to do that with the original UT.

Based on what I have read I guess the stuff I should research in order to get into customizing UT would be

    1. UnrealScript (I have a good handle on this)
    2. Mutators
    3. GameType mods

Are there any other areas where UnrealScript can be used to customize/mod the game?

I wish I could find more good references on Mutators. I found lots of really old stuff but not too much recent material. Is there a really good Mutator with source code that you would suggest I check out? How about GameType mods? (Besides the ones included in the game source).

Thanks in advance for your help and please accept my apologies if these are questions you have all answered 8,000 times I have actually spent a pretty good amount of time researching all this stuff before I came here.
