    Cool Hosting game - major problems, please help

    Hi all

    I'm having problems trying to host my own server to allow me and a few friends to play together. Please note that I could do this before with no problems.

    OK, I go to host multiplayer game in options, choose all my options for the server and so forth and then click the start button and all I get is a black screen. I can't understand cos it used to work before.

    Also, this may have something to do with the problem, I've installed UTvote. However I can host a game if I check the dedicated server option and then connect to the server from there. However, I can't log in as admin when I choose this option. I have set up a pwd in the server options screen and was able to log in as admin when the server was non dedicated.

    This is very frustrating as I can't change maps or gametypes or anything :cry:

    Would it be worth deleting my UT2003.ini and trying again?

    Can anyone help me here at all cos its driving me up the wall.

    All I want to do is host the server on my machine (non dedicated) and play a few games with my mates and be able to log on as admin when on the server.

    Any help/advice greatly appreciated.

    Ok being a Non Dedicated server introduces a zillion problems but nothing you cannot get around.
    First off rather than starting it from Host Mulitplayer which in itself causes problems, rather create a Shortcut on your Desktop, so that you can "bluff" UT2003 its a Dedicated Server.

    So to turn that into English do as follows

    Using Windows Explorer goto the UT2003.exe in the C:\UT2003\System folder and drag a shortcut onto your desktop.
    Now right click on that Shortcut on your Desktop and select Properties and change the Target to read as follows:

    C:\UT2003\System\UT2003.exe CTF-Maul?Game=XGame.xCTFGame?Mutator=UT2Vote17.UT2Vote ?Listen

    Dont forget the ?Listen as that is the most important part for a Non Ded Server.

    If you want to add more Mutators or commands, rather add them in UT2Vote's lines:

    ServerMuts=Whatever.Whatever
    ServerLine=?Whatever

    Also make sure that in UT2Votes DefaultGame= is the same as the Game in the Startup command above.

    Also add an Admin password in:
    VoteAdminPass=

    Now in future when you want to start a Non Ded Server - just doubleclick on the Shortcut and you're instantly away.

    If you do have a pile of Mutators in the ServerMuts= or more commands in the ServerLine= then the moment your sever starts bring up the Map Menu and click on restart.
    You need to do this because on a Non Ded Server, UT2Vote actaully sees it as an Instant Action game and does not load its defaults.

    Now once playing to become an Admin:
    Mutate UT2VoteLogin password
