Multiplayer buddies list

Anyone know how to add a player to your buddies list?
Once they are there, is it sort of like an instant message?
Can I see where people on my buddie list are playing?
A friend of mine (in another state) and I want to play on the same server and I think the buddie list may make finding him easier. How does it work? I cant seem to find much information on it.

just click add buddy ore something (never use it)

and yes you can see when a buddie is playing on a server, and you can also see wich server he is playing on so you can join him in the Frag fest.

als'o *'s are wildcards in your buddy list so say your in a clann you could just add somthing like '*[FDM]' without quotes ane everyones name ending in '*[FDM]' will be on ur buddy list
