    Default VERY LOW FPS!! problem!

ok, its not my settings, and its not everyone's settings cause i get around 90 fps when i look down... and when i stand on the one side of my map i get about 15-20 fps...
i got quite abit of glass textures in there.... a moving disc, and glass towers which resemble spiral staircases...
the map size is about 4096...a hexagon

How many polys? Got any pics? Did you rebuild all before you went in to test it?

To pinpoint the cause of low fps, make use of the 'stat' and 'rmode' console commands.

In particular, 'rmode 1' will switch to wireframe mode. Ideally you should not be able to see any stuff which is not in view (ie things behind walls should not be visible in wireframe view). Use zoning and antiportals to help here. 'rmode 5' will switch back to normal view.

'stat render', 'stat game' and 'stat hardware' give various useful information on how long specific things take to render, such as emitters, static meshes, terrain deco layers etc. If one is particularly high then it gives you an idea of what needs optimizing.

Something that made my map slow as hell while it's good now: In my skybox i was using a 512x512 RGB8 texture which i forgot to compress. I had like 20~25 fps with it and now 35~40 with the texture compressed. This is about the same as i get in citadel.

rgb8 textures wont slow anything down except cards with small amounts of ram.

actually, if you make a map out of nothing but the default bubbly texture, and run it, and then texture it with 1 texture that is 1024x1024, you actually GAIN fps. at least i did, lol. dunno, maybe its me :bulb:
