Red face 3ds uvw mapping.. um yeah

Ok I figured out how to do the basic uvw mapping and such, like the cylinder, box, etc, and I figured out how to do the vertex coloring etc. But here is where I am struggling:

I made this object and it is mostly a cylinder, so I use the cylinder wrap on it, and the texture looks nice only on the parts of it that are cylinder like. but the rest is all messed up, I guess what I am trying to ask is how do I adjust the texture on just a few of the polygon faces of a mesh?

In ued it is simple and easy, you just select the faces right click and change the settings, but in 3ds max, it seems like it is very difficult to do very simple stuff :sour:

Well you can select just the polys you want to fix and apply another uvmap on those and/or you can uvw unwrap the who or just a piece of the mesh.

uvw unwrap is a bit more of a pain but with complicated meshes theres not much you can do.

ok cool, selecting the faces, then applying the uvw modifier on them worked , I though I had tried that before, but it doesnt matter as long as its working now.

Another quick question, when selecting faces/polygons on a mesh how come when I try to click a face/s it sometimes selects/deselects a backface(like a face on the other side of the mesh) instead of selecting/deselecting the face I was clicking on.. it is becoming extrememly aggravating.
