Unhappy Static meshes not staying attatched and also invisible walls... GRRRR!

I am making a level and I've been working on it for about a week now and now in the last section that I have completed or so I thought, but there are big prooblems:

1.there is an invisible wall that divides the room in half, but there is nothing there (no zone wall, no antiportal, no nothing).

    2. There are some static meshes that just wont stay if you shoot at them or walk into them. One of them just slides around on the floor, but the other 3 fall throug the floor.

    *I have done build all*

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    1) Can you show a pic on that room?
Are you using several advanced brush so it cause a big "hole" in the room?

    2) I hope you are talking about UT2003?? In the first UT you could shoot on static meshes and they moved or fell, but not in UT2003. But I'm not sure, maybe there are some options in the meshes which make you can moved them by shooting, then I don't know where it is.

im going to put this as nicely as my cynicism allows.

    start here: http://www.planetunreal.com/architec...vel_part1.html

follow that until the end. if you still have questions, post back.

my guess is that your static meshes, ARENT static meshes. static meshes are STATIC, meaning they dont move. you have somehow managed to add something else. what? i dunno. follow that tutorial. or one of the many many many ones listed here. if you followed it already, you might want to re-read it.

and btw, to post pics, you need to link somewhere on the internet, not just a link to a pic on your hard drive.

    I have realized that

The only thing that I did to them was change the texture. I am no newbie to mapping nor am I a dumb ass. (have been for about 5 months now) I dont need a beginners tutorial, but thanks anyway. I deleted the meshes that were there and added some new meshes and they still do the same thing. Oh well....

if your static meshes are moving, then youre doing something wrong. are you sure theyre static meshes? are they a cyan color in the 2d views? because they sound like karma items to me, or possibly movers gone horribly wrong, lol.

again, static meshes dont have the ability to move.

1: MOST problems concerning invisible things blocking the player are a result of bsp errors. Fixing it is NOT just a matter of deleting it then creating it again. Normally you'd have to move the bsp a fraction or so, or get rid of it all together. Sometimes errors will occur if certain bsp brushes are near one another. Not sure why that happens, buy get into the habit of finding ways around it. I have a few bridges placed in certain areas of a level I'm working on, and no matter how many times I rebuild or recreate the brush, it always creates a blocking bsp error. I usually end up moving it to another area (usually fixes the problem) or deleting it all together and re-designing the layout of that little problem area simply for the sake of keeping your workflow going. It eats a lot of time hunting these bugs and fixing them.

2: Whenever you place static meshes into your level, at the end of the day, right click on a static mesh, click on 'select all static meshes' and go into it's advanced properties. See that tab that says bMovable? Set that to false. Now now none of your meshes will move in-game. If you want to lock them in the editor, make sure bLocked is set to true.

They were static meshes (it was teal), but It seemed like in just those spots it would do that, yeah it's weird. Haven't had any problems with my movers yet, knock on wood .
