Thread: 2 player co-op

    Default 2 player co-op

I think this severly limits the fun of the co-op mode. I would have loved to go through co-op with three of my other buddies who have 360's. Why only two people? I know the unreal engine is very powerful, so it can't be that....im puzzled. They should look at GRAW and what everyone is used to now.

I disagree. Co-op is IMO is meant for split-screen two player. Plus the second person in co-op isnt a clone like in halo. its Dom the second main character in the game. Since there are only 4 player in your squad. GRAW inlcuded Co-op which featured levels (tacked on) that weren't in single player. GEARS isnt GRAW its a whole different game. Muti-player is supposed to have eight players (low for a shooter) but thats because it wouldn't work with more. Have faith in EPIC anything they do will be sure to be the funnest it can.

Well, I have mixed feelings about 2 player co-op... like I love playing online Co-op with lots of my friends cuz most of my regular friends (cough) dont have 360's. I do think there should be some modes that allow more than two co-op players but i prefer two player co-op cuz really it 'd get way too chaotic if you got idoits on your team.
    Thank you for your time,
    Sincerely,

3 of my main friends can't play with me. That's all Im thinking....We ALWAYS play co-op together like this in GRAW. I know they're different but it's a little dissapointing. A game that doesn't allow us to do this is limiting that kind of play. Whether it would work in the game is another story. They could force it in there if they wanted. But, I guess there's a good reason they're keeping it at 2. Im sure it will be a good game. 4 player co-op would have just made my dreams. Maybe for GOW 2....

Yeah I'll agree. 2 player Co-op is great, but having no more than a 4 player Co-op team would be sweet. Only the playing ground would have to be very intense. None of this 5 or 6 Locust at one time, rather 20 or 30 swarming at you at once.

I don't think it would be a good idea to have more than 2 people co-op. It would make the game too easy.

To easy? If you have 20 to 30 Locust swarming at you I don't think a team of 3 or 4 will have to easy of a time taking them down. I say this becasue after watching the E3 demo and seeing how hard it was to take down just 1 Locust. He emptied 1 clip or 2 to 3 shotgun shells into one and they still kept coming. But only the release of the game will give us the info we need. *lol*

I'm thinking it's not more than 2 because of performance. You guys have to understand that they are stressing the hardware as it is. Brute Force was 4 player at the same time wasn't it? I think sometimes shooting for certain things to get in a game can hurt other apects of the game your developing.

Does anyone know if GoW will have "real" co-op like Halo (2 players with splitscreen plays the whole SP game together)

Or will it be more like Kameo where only some parts were playable with co-op?

Real co-op, but better than Halo. First off all, you can also play over live. Second, you are not two Marcus' but both a different character. And last but not least: people can join your singleplayer game anytime you want.

My favorite part of the game is Co-op, I think Dom looks just as rad as Marcus does!

Me too, my brother and I will dive right into it together. Also I think they should keep it to 2 player co-op rather than 4 player because then the game will be too easy, no matter how many monsters you can put in because it will be like Multiplayer with bots.

My buddy and I too... This is a popular theme! My friend is just as stoked as i am. He has no 360 though (cant afford one) So hes coming over the day this baby is released and were gonna go through the whole game in co-op.
By the way, on the 17 min teamxbox vid, does anyone else think Marcus has the coolest voice ever? When Dom asks him which way they should go he answers the dangerous way and says, its time to kick some ass! so bomb!
Another neat thing about co-op is the fact that you and dom (your friend) can go different ways and see different parts of the story unfold. i thought this was neat because along the way you run into each other and stuff. So excited!

I love it how you can play co-op online! You get the benefits of a full screen (sweet), you can talk to your ally (also sweet), and...well...a FULL SCREEN!

Plus your friend can join or leave at anytime without interrupting the game. So if you get stuck on a boss, a friend can join you, help you kill him, then leave to continue playing multiplayer... RAD!!!!

4-player coop would be awesome, but it would be a hassle. "We can't continue if your all not here. Player 3, get to the end, and hurry! Alright, finally P3 is here... wait, where'd P4 go? Ammo? Dangit! HEY, P2, REFRAIN FROM LEAVING!"

Either way, 2 or 4 players, I'll probably play this game with a friend through the whole game. When I got The Warriors, played that co-op for 12 hours straight, beat the game, dead tired to work or do anything the next day.

2-player co-op is better for the story and makes the gameplay more personal. Also, for a good portion of the game its only Marcus and Dom, making the plot of the game f-ed up! "why are our two squadmates following us to meet of with our two squadmates?" Hopefully that makes some sorta sense...

This is one thing I am really looking forward to my firend and myself are both picking this up and we can't wait to play on co-op after we beat it.Was there any mention of the Co-op being new levels or are they the same ones you go through in the campaign?

I hope it's campaign because GRAW did that 4 level thing which was so easy and over so fast.

The story has it so you and Dom go throughout the whole game making 2 player coop possible the entire time. If they added 2 more it would be a hassle with this story line because you couldn't play all the time. It, like stated before, also adds a more personal touch. I like the way it's turning out.

Co-op is going to be great fun. If you are stuck on a level, you can invite another player via XBL and complete it together. I think the Team Deathmatch will be alot better though. 4 Gears vs 4 Locust. How cool isn't that?

As for two player co-op, I'm all for it. Halo and Halo 2 were very enjoyable with the limited number of co-op players. Another way to look at it though, this is going to be a pretty dark game. How could they make it four player co-op when obviously the other two (note the avatar names: red shirt) are most likely going to be killed in some dramatic fashion? Who would want to accidentally pick the squad member that gets horribly maimed in the third level or something like that? Yet, by limiting it the way they have - you play the two survivors who get pyback on the locust after the loss of their comrade(s).

Anyhow, I've got you all beat when it comes to a team-mate. My girlfriend is totally stoked about this game and can't wait to play. Although she really wants to take down Halo 2 on Legendary first - to polish up her skillz.

if cole train and baird stay alive in the sequel there should be 4 player coop, in insane level the ai is retarded when dom and marcus splits up.. or atleast have like system link up to four player coop... i have a big family that loves this game..
