    Default Curb Stomp!

Anyone seen any other vids of multiplayer besides the 30 sec off screen one? You could hear people chanting X,X,X! (I believe this is the button for the curbstomp) But when the guy playing was about to curbstomp his foe he got killed... I love this feature and was wondering if anyone has got a glimpse of it yet.

Check out the 17 minute video floating around, I think you can find it at TeamXbox. Cliffy explains it much better than I could.

A curb stomp is a move where the player grabs his enemy from the back by his arms, and then brutally kicks him in the back. Smashing him into the floor.
I would love to see a vid too btw :P

I just hope it looks like they really put their ass into the stomp like Ed Norton did and not some weak-sauce foot pound.

Yeah on the MTV2 E3 episode he talked about how he was all nervous about presenting the game. I think he did a great job, and left the audience with a little somthing, but not alot like most game developers find themselves doing at E3. He left me with enough information that I know what the game is like, yet not to much to give away every game feature.

Great Introduction to Gears of War CliffyB.

They should have Edward Norton in Neo-nazi form unlockable. Just kidding. I hope they do the curbstomp were he kicks the back of the head into the ground. (Like american history X)

Koko's where are you getting this pull arms-kick back thing from? CliffyB said that it is going to be like from the movie AHX, which is where you pretty much just stomp the guys head in with your foot. When playing the game and you get shot really badly, right before you die you enter this "Down But Not Out" mode. This time is the 15 seconds right before you die, where you bleed to death all over the pavement. Kind of like the Critically Wounded feature in Battlefield 2, where you just lay there for 15 seconds before you can spawn again.

During this time anyone can just come up to you and just smash your head in with their foot. Im guessing this kills you instantly and allows you to spawn faster than waiting for 15 secs. So it should be a good thing for you to get curbstomped.

Kokos, go to the 17 minute video and go to 4:29, he'll explain the whole Down But Not Out feature and the curbstomp as well. If you still dont know what a curbstomp is, watch American History X.

Actually in multiplayer there are rounds and if you die you just go into spectator mode until everyone on your team dies.

You don't die instantly though, there is a little bit of time inbetween getting shot to the ground and actually dieng. Giving teammates the chance to 'revive' you and opponents the chance to curb stomp.
Couldn't you release some kind of footage for us o dear epic games?

In the only multi-player vid out you can see a locust on all fours in this mode barely. Sometimes you dont got to it though... depends on how you get shot. But it will happen most of the time. for example. When you get grenaded, you cant stay on all four when your missing your arms and legs...

yeah, i like that there's dismemberment in the game. i wonder if it's just arms and legs or if you can blow people's heads off. that'd be cool. and yeah, i think the curbstomp is smashing the enemy's head with your foot, sounds awesome!!

Heh, it would be a cool feature if they had some voice option to talk to your team, and if you don't press that button everyone close can hear you. So you can just shout at him :P.
Too bad all the voicing goes through the dashboard now, Microsoft really ****ed that up. Along with the accounts that run through the dashboard: which makes you unable to play on 1 live account with more that 1 account.

I have a question actually, at one point in the video Cliffy mentions that there will be a 15 second period where the player is down but not out and in those 15 seconds they can be curb stomped. Now my question is why is the player given these 15 seconds on the ground, waiting to be curb stomped? Is there something that you are waiting for and that the curb stomping prevents? For instance in Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory there was a similar 15 sec period where you could be revived by a medic, but if someone shot or stabbed you etc then you were dead for good and had to respawn back at base.

So when you are on the ground (I assume with some cool motion-blurred first person view so you can watch that big boot come down on your face) are you actually waiting to be revived in some way by another player, or to regain consciousness?

Basically I'm just wondering if the player dishing out the stomp has a reason to finish someone off other than the cool factor, maybe like bonus points or a kind of morale boost? (That is, if anyone is allowed to talk about it)

Both! Your teamates can heal you or you can get curbstomped if none of them are around. Also you dont go to this mode everytime... depends on the kill.

CURBSTOMP CONFIRMED IN THE GAME, MY BAD FOR DOUBTING YOU GUYS CHECK THIS OUT:

    MULTIPLAYER ARTICLE

After some spray ‘n pray I decided to try a diversion tactic. I equipped a smoke grenade and threw it at the enemy. I leapt from cover and equipped my shotgun. Just as I had hoped he moved into the clearing that I had just entered. I took a few rounds from his assault rifle but my shotgun does a much faster job in close combat. As he fell to the ground clutching his stomach, an Epic employee yelled “ok he’s bleeding out, run over to him and press X quick!” Not wanting to let him down I ran over to my wounded foe and tapped X. And in a well-executed animation, Marcus lifted his leg above the locust and stomped the poor bastards head into the ground with a satisfying crunch.

btw i was WRONG again about the "X" button for allies it is revive and for enemies its curbstomp

    FORGIVE ME GOW FORUM!

It starts off in a forest like setting and they make their way to this building and it shows a rail like part. It's online I dont know if I can post a link to it though cause it was filmed off screen at a behind doors thing as far as I know.
