Split screen (side by side?)

I was wondering since gears is going to support High Definition screens is there going to be an option, when playing split screen CO-OP, to play side by side instead of horizontal?
The reason I ask is your share of the screen gets significantly reduced in high def games in horizontal split screen mode. Since TV screens are now getting wider than they are taller doesn't it make sense? Or at least have a choice?

The choice is like 99% gonna happen. its almost required now in order to release a game.

There will probably be an option to link with friends, though, so that you can play on two diffrent screens. It just requires 2 consoles and 2 televisions. I've had some great moments while linking on Halo.
