New Weapon Idea: Sonic
ok, i was thinking about a new weapon, and please, i just had this idea, so its probably not thought out well.
CoG Screamer ([edit] other names that some freinds of mine have put forth is The Banshee and The Siren)
this weapon works at shotgun range, in a giant cone (like the shotgun, but a little bigger) and does minimal-to-no damage. well whats the point of that, you ask? if anyone (yes, even teamates) is in the cone and you are holding the trigger, they're stunned. however, right as soon as you stop the sonic discharge, they stop being stunned, to prevent you from stunning them, switching to your shotty, and blowing them away (its a support weapon). Also, as its a sound-wave weapon, it goes through and around cover. maybe a brief warmup time should be required before it starts "screaming".
Long Story Short:
-shoots like the lancer (hold to fire)
-Shotgun Range
-goes through cover
-fires in a cone
-stuns anyone inside cone radius
-little to no damage
-warmup time before firing
-stun stops as soon as you stop firing
- [edit] has 3-4 batteries (and to avoid confusion, you do have to reload every battery) at 100%, takes 10-20% to start the fireing, 5%/second to keep it going (for a max of 18-16 seconds/battery)
- [edit] must be aimed
- [edit] no active reloads
Campain uses:
-all of above uses
-can close emergance holes
-maybe wreaks havoc with the beserkers (they use hearing to hunt, so something super loud would definatly have an effect on them, right?)
-[edit] also, how cool would it be if delta was being chased out from underground by a plague of locusts, only for marcus to set the screamer to its loudest, highest frequency, shooting it into the cave they just came out of, and collapseing it on top of the locust plague
How this would fit into the gameplay/story:
the Coalition of governments decided that they wanted something that was man portable that could destroy the locust tunnels, and made the CoG Screamer. i know, grenades work fine, but this would be cool too.
please keep the flamming to a minimal, because as i said, i just had this idea at around 10 o' clock, and its now 10:30

Seems a tad bit overpowered and useless as the shotgun will due...
Perhaps you should make it more unique such as the Poison granade that is soon to come out it is diffrent from the smoke and frag granade cause it poisons the enemys health, etc.
And sure it goes through cover but little to no damage makes it useless keep up the work the concept is good but you need more backing to this item..

like i said, i just thought of this idea, but thanks for your constructive critisism. also, its not supposed to be a damage dealing weapon, more of something to hold people in place while your buddies kill them... though i do see what your getting at with the overpowered part..... if someone got ahold of this on a map like canals on the top....

Yup you got what I meant and I didn't think of its for a support weapon good job all it needs is a little bit more filling ^_^

Even though this weapon sounds a bit strange, I appreciate that you took the time to explain how the weapon would work in multiplayer, how it would be used in the story, and why it would have a use in the story to begin with. The only problem that I see with it is there should be a limit as to how long you can fire it. For example: you are the only person left on your team, and one guy on the opposing team is running around with this sonic weapon and catches you in it, and the opposing team just so happens to be a bunch of arses. With 4 minutes left in the match you are now trapped inside this sonic vortex and must wait the remainder of the match stuck inside this vortex.
Basically, the weapon would need some kind of limit as to how long the weapon could be fired at a time, or have a set amount of "power" or "energy" stored in the weapon. Like I said, this weapon sounds strange, but you at least thought it through; I am willing to accept any suggestions for the game, unless they are absolutely absurd like a spermicide gun that some guy was talking about a few months back (I really don't want to get into it, the idea was just ridiculous).

This would be a really cool weapon to use on an entrenched enemy position to stun them while your teammates run in and finish them off.
