Nvidia 9800GX2

Ok well seems as i couldn't find anyone posting ANYTHING about this card here yet which im pretty shocked about i figured some of you should know about it. I did go thru the last 10 pages and found no one mentioning this card so.... sorry if you guys have actually talked about it jus couldn't find it.....
I'll post some links below for a couple of benchmarks i've found, i think you'll be glad to hear how UT3 performs according to gamespot lol.... and remember i think most of the benchmarks are putting the 9800gx2 against sli setups.... so results may not look stunning! but their putting 2 whole graphics cards against the 9800, so the 9800gx2 in sli mode will absolutely wipe the floor with everything out there, but at a heavy price tag....

It sounds pretty impressive but I think I'll pass. My 8800GTX hasn't failed me yet so I'm pretty sure I'll wait til the next big card comes out. I mean I upgraded my computer with a quadcore processor and the 8800 when they became available just so I wouldn't have to upgrade again for a long time.

Still I must say the "elitist" in me feels tempted to get every top of the line thing out there but quite frankly I don't have the funds to constantly be plopping down over 500 dollars every time a new card comes out.

The 9800x2 is like two graphic cards (it combines to pcbs with one chip each=2 graphics cards) so comparing it to SLI-systems is the only way to compare that card to others.

But imho it is to expensive buying a 3870x2 from ati is like 200€ cheaper and delivers nearly the same performance.

$600 for a card that likely does not have a driver as yet is crazy. Heck it may never have a working driver for UT3.

nvidia never fixed the 7950GX2 driver, so why would anyone believe they will for this 9800GX2? They gave up on it and screwed all those customers who bought it, even worse, the ones who bought 2 for SLI that was never supported. Take a look at the nvidia forums on this and elsewhere.

A WHQL driver was released for it on 3/18.

The 9800x2 is a terrible card to buy unless you're on a non-SLI motherboard and for some reason want to run a 30" monitor without upgrading.

Two 8800 GTs is a better value. Some benchmarks even have two 9600 GTs coming it at similar performance.

Also, this card will probably suffer from a lack of driver support down the line, just like the 7950GX2.

And finally-- a card with this much power is almost totally unnecessary. One 8800 GTS 512 should have no problem with any game at almost any resolution, let alone any game coming out in the next year (we're tied to the consoles now; we're not going to see many graphical improvements beyond what THEY can do.).

And its overpriced.

sli is the suck, dont bother using it unless you had 2 graphic cards from merchant where sli was setup in it.

I also heard from bittec that 9800gx2 can cause crashes due to overheating. I'd rather buy 8800gtx or 2 9600gt's.

9800GX2 is two 8800GTS 512s shoved together. The 8800GTS 512, is basically the 8 series, meaning the 9 series is pretty much nothing new.

If only ATi gave them some damn competition then there might be a 10 series worth some money, as it stands, this is last years tech.

why in the world did they test crysis on medium settings with 2xAA in that one review? why not put the game on max at native rez with no AA and test it?

still, even with that performance, doesn't look like this will be the card for the truly maxed out smooth crysis experience. a little disheartening, but nice performance in UT3 at least

any word on the 9800 gtx?
