Come on this is getting old I don't like to wait for someone to make content,
I am about to loose my mind, & hack up a program that just for making content for the PS3 users, There should be a PC app that makes the content just for the PS3, a program witch only makes the content used on the PS3 |

A PS3 editor just doesn't make logical sense
We can either get the PC editor which requires UT3 to be installed in order to use the resources stored in the game data. Which would mean epic would essentially have to give each PS3 user a free copy of the PC copy of UT3. The only other possibilities are a gimped editor made to run on PCs especially for PS3 users (Which would have to somehow be distributed to users, be dumbed down and not require a UT3 installation) or a built-in map editor o the PS3 version (which would be similar to the timesplitters or Halo map editors and really couldn't create anything worthwhile compared to what PC users are creating). Either option would mean epic would have to take time that they could be spending working on a patch to make the PS3 version better to make a gimped map editor that would likely only be used to create maps inferior to the maps created on the full PC editor.

Calm down. I still can't believe how many PS3 owners thought they were going to get a map editor as well. It wouldn't be possible. As Tailsnake said, all of the game content is required to make maps for UT3. Therefore you need the actual PC game. I see no reason to get so pissed. You shouldn't expect things when they weren't promised to you before the purchase.
I bought both the PC and PS3 version. |

My UEd uses anywhere from 1GB to 2GB memory, another 1GB during the cooking process.
The PS3 has 512MB. My processor also runs hot for 10-ish minutes while building lighting, I do need my full resolution of 1280x1024 and would like more, and if I'm foolish enough to navigate in lit mode with lighting not built I get 1 fps and less, with more powerful graphics hardware than the PS3 ever had or ever will have. |

Oh, sorry, only crossread your post and thought it was one of the many that ask for editing on the PS3
![]() Well, Tailsnake summed it up pretty well If you want to map, you need all the assets, you need all the maps, essentially you need pretty much everything that is UT3 (and with the play in editor, you also need the game engine and weapons and bot AI and even physics). So if there was to be a content creation tool for the PS3 on the PC that doesn't allow you to play, it would be just because ut3.exe would be missing. And trust me, you don't wanna map without being able to test your map's new ramp while you're in the editor, or see if that tank gets over that bridge, or test if that jump pad feels right. And you don't want to create bot paths when you can't see how well they let bots run their course. And personally, I wouldn't like waiting for 5+ minutes every single time I wanna test something, which would be necessary even with the most streamlined workflow for bringing the content to the PS3 - occasionally waiting for a full lighting rebuild is easily enough for me. Unless you want really low quality content, you need the full mapping package. And I imagine Epic doesn't want their community to create bad content, because that'd shed a bad light on Epic, so the chances of them creating a dumbed-down version are very, very slim. |
