jd i just read what you said over on the notags thread and imo you need to present the issue in a different way to him. you make it sound like a BR issue. i repeat, i can't do this even if i wanted to (which i don't anyway). i can't modify the pawn class. the issue is with his mutator and it's not a BR issue, his mutator won't run with any other game type than DM. that is a serious issue which would be solved by him comenting out ONE line of code which disables it for all other game types.

honestly i'm mystified as to why he did this. he runs his custom Pawn class for all game types anyway, but then in that class he only runs the notag part with an IF statement that filters out all other game types. very simple for him to change that.

BR shouldn't even be mentioned. by mentioning BR you relieve some pressure from him as he might think "ah...just a BR issue". he needs to understand that people want this to work with all game types and that it is not acceptable for it to just work with DM. what if you weren't running the apoc mut, then you'd be scewed for all other game types too.

Awesome!!! Thanks for making this compatible for the PS3!! Can't wait! I'm sure it'll appear in the in-game Mod-Browser sooner or later!

Sorry didn't mean to make it sound like a BR issue. I'm pretty sure I've made it clear it is a UT3 problem that I'm trying like hell to work around. I'm not a coder so I know next to nothing about the inner workings of the game but I do know what works and what doesn't and I try my best to describe that in a way that the coders will understand. Honestly I don't think he's going to do anything anyway but I had to try. I think you just percieved it in an over protective way. I know he has it coded to work only in DM, you know it and I'm damn sure he knows it. My point is that my server now has name tags removed in every gametype but BR and me, you and him knowing why isn't the problem. The people who play there are going to think either a) I'm a lazy admin or b) it's a BR problem. I can't be there all day long to hold everyones hand and explain all the problems UT3 has and how it's damn near impossible to have something like 99 or 2k4 these days.

As for not being able to do anything about it well I think you said yourself that it would require a mutator of your own and that you didn't want to go to those lengths and did not have the time. I relayed that info in the hopes that PsiSniper would take it upon himeslf to do the right thing which seems unlikely at this point. Heck the guys over at Apoc didn't have to bother with it either but they did because they wanted their mutator to be usable by admins wanting to remove name tags from players heads while still getting the benefit of Matrix Moves. Their only other option is to have less people using their mutator because it was not compatible. Making it available to a wider audience makes sense since in-fact most people you talk too absolutely hate the name tags and will use whatever mutators are available to remove them.

So with neither of you able or willing to do anything about it I'm stuck and I really don't care anymore anyway. It's just not worth it to banter back and forth with people over who should do what as I really couldn't care less who fixes the problem I just know it should be fixed and no one is willing to do it. So be it BR will have name tags over everyone's head, should make spotting the enemy a piece of cake and no it's not your fault. You know what would be really cool is if Epic were to get rid of those bloody things themselves and save everyone the headache but who am I kidding... Those stupid name tags have really made the game look like a comic book and it's a cryin' shame.

*Edit - Ok I went over there and reworded it for you though I think it was perfectly clear and concise the first time around.

nope sorry i disagree your wording is not clear. you don't mention his mod is not compatible with TDM, CTF, VCTF, WARFARE, and every other game type. someone needs to urge him to make his mod comatible with all game types.

if no ones askes him to specifically do that then why should he care.

why even mention br. br is not the issue. sure it's an issue for your particular situation but your situation is particular to you. we want him to change his code to be good for everyone, not just u. what would you think if according to your wording he changed his code to just work with DM and BR. now that would be ridiculous.

Sorry guys, I don't know if this has been already said, anyway ehen i try to start a istant action match, after selecting bombing run i get this when i'm supposed to choose map

It chooses randomly a map and doesn't show any name in maplist, and then if I click on start game it pushes me back to istant action menu
I'm using patch 2.0 and titan pack, UT3 Bombing Run Beta v2.13

That's a map from UT3DOM, I think it messed up something in your game.

the current download doesn't have any maps in it, only the mod itself. i did it that way to keep the download small.

you need to also install some maps. you can download a large number of maps from the site in my sig.

He was asked to do it for other gametypes and he refused and instead posted the code for others to do so if they wished. The fact that it was made specifically for DM is not a secret it has been well covered in that thread and anyone who has read the thread knows this or if they've downloaded the mutator they know this so repeating it in my post doesn't make the point more "clear". My point was made perfectly clear whether or not you agree does not change that fact. The reason I mentioned BR is because it IS the only gametype I am not able to do a work around for and I've explicitly explained that and why in the thread if you had read it you'd know this. I've even explained it here on more than one occasion as well as elsewhere and I do not for a second think I've left anything out that would help to make the situation easier to understand. I will not argue this with you further I've done my level best to make every point clear and concise and mentioned every thing that was required to achieve what I intend to achieve.

From your post above you said that I had said he should make his mutator only for BR and DM which shows me that you did not even read that post or rather did not understand it at all. That is not at all what I said and to take it that way you had to do some serious twisting or just be overly protective of the term BR. Lets not forget that I've spent countless hours testing this gametype and making my server available for others to help test it. I've given feedback for months on end trying to help in the best way I know how so that you can bring back a gametype we all love. To suggest that I'm in any way trying to paint BR in a bad light is the most ridiculous thing I can imagine. The fact is quite contrary to that. If anything making it possible to remove those stinkin' tags will bring more people to a gametype than drive them away. You've made your point that you "cannot" do anything about it. So be it I completely understand that and I've asked PsiSniper to look into it. Nothing else can be done so I really don't see the point of continuing to keep this alive. If he chooses to make it work in other gametypes great if not I really don't care as I mentioned before I've over giving a s**t about it.

Let me just state for the record that even though we disagree strongly on this issue and sadly that's just going to have to be the way it is, I do appreciate your hard work on this gametype. I'm more than excited about it and it's chances in the contest. Everything I've written about BR on any thread anywhere has been with the intention of seeing this project come to a successful conclusion. Just ask anyone in my clan and they'll tell you they wish I'd shut up about it already because I'm always trying to get them to play it and test it etc etc etc... So with that in mind please go back and read what I've written again without the blinders.
