Default To play this disc, put it in an Xbox 360 console.

The stupidest error message ever. That's the message I've been getting lately when I try to play Gears. I turn on the 360 and it shows the Xbox 360 logo, then goes to a white screen with the message "To play this disc, put it in an Xbox 360 console". Why the hell has this started happening? My disc isn't damaged and I hope the 360 isn't messed up. It's never frozen mid-game on me before. Anyone else have this same problem?

had it happen, just gave the disc a clean with a duster and nothing since. You would think, by the message that its a 360 problem, not a disc problem.

as a major in toxicology, there are several benifits to weed when used in controlled dosage, however i have never gotten that error i have gotton unreconized disk error but then my temp strip i have on my 360 was registering a hot 105 degrees... yeah the error is due to heat fogging the lazer but anyway.......

I've gotten this message and have always ended buying a new one. Last time, my Gears disc had a crack on the top.

PMSL!!!

I often get asked to put the disc in if I accept an invite whilst I'm on the dashboard.. even if the disc is in, BUT it starts to do something as soon as I open the tray! - Wait for me to put it back in ya damn xbox... I'm just as anxous to play!! lol

Had that problem since (more or less) day one of getting GoW. Got a new 360 and hasn't happened since. Started out every once in a while, and I'd just keep opening and closing the tray until it read the game, but eventually it stopped reading that game, and Phantasy Star. My belief is that it's a problem with the 360...one of the most insane and annoying problems every...aside from glitchers that follow you around all night long and ruin your fun

Just clean your disc, thats usually the main thing.
If that doesn't work, you need to see if any of your other games will play.
If they don't you've got a problem.

Like my friend was playing Crackdown, and his system made a funky noise.
The disc got scratched up with rings of the bottom of the disc terribly.
So he tried other games to check if it still worked. They didn't.
And now his Xbox360 won't work, so he sent it into Microsoft.
And said it was his fault because he accidentally tipped over his Xbox360 a few times.
So they won't refund him.
So let that be a lesson to everyone. If your Xbox360 is sitting out in the middle of nowhere, sitting upright. Either lay it down, after you turn it off or take the disc out. Or put it somewhere it can't get knocked over at.

(P.S. If you do tip the Xbox360 over while a game is spinning in it. It will make a centimeter wide ringlike scratch on it. Rendering it just as a piece of plastic.)
