Name: Stargate SGC
Version: Beta 5, local version 2054c (9/18/2008) Compatibility: Built and tested with UT2k4 so far. Description: This is a concept I have been wanting to do for a long time. The concept is the SGC (Stargate Command Facility) inspired by the TV show Stargate SG1 (based on the movie, Stargate). This version is AS, in the interest of showing the entire map. Included is Cheyenne Mountain, NORAD Tunnel, The SGC, Abydos and a Goa'uld Mothership hovering above Abydos in a single map [file]. It IS possible to walk from Cheyenne Mountain (Colorado, USA), down the length of NORAD tunnel, down 2 elevators to the SGC, through the gate to Abydos and then use a transportation ring platform to transport up to a Goa'uld Mothership. This map will be most fun for anyone familiar with the SG universe. Comments: This map has been Beta Tested 4 previous times and has had 2 final versions so far. I started this map December 2004 and expected to be done by February. It's now September 2008 and I have continued to improve things and the attention to detail shows. The 5th Beta improves on many fine details of Version 2 (The order of beta and full releases has been Beta1>Beta2>Version1>Beta3>Beta4>Version2>Beta5), and adds a new area of the map, the Goa'uld Mothership (Beta tested independently) connected by a transportation ring platform (Beta tested independently). Post screenshots, leave comments, post any mirrors. Have fun! Beta5 is the current private beta. It is NEWER than Version 2. If you are interested in private beta testing, please send Killer909 a PM or reply back to this post. Beta5 is expected to be an early version of "Stargate SGC Version 3" which will be released once the beta5 improvements have been added, additional features are complete, and all the issues discovered from this release. It is my hope, releasing Beta5, that Version 3 will be the best it can possibly be. Known Issues/Bugs: * There is still an issue with being able to see static meshes through the wall of the escape hatch. I see no way around this an am considering changing the objectives to avoid this. * Bots are unable to complete the ladder objective and the secure-explosives objective. * Bots don't like to drive into NORAD Tunnel. This is related to the way the objective is located inside the security checkpoint. * There is no objective yet set inside the Mothership. This will be created before Version3 is released. * There is no objective in the "Secret Area." An objective may be created, or it may be left as an easter egg. * Replicators are not yet added. A spawning issue is delaying this feature. * Bots don't drive well. (This has been fixed for Version3) Recommendations: * 4-10 Players (But large enough to allow any number). * 12+ Minutes (Map takes about 9.5 minutes with no bots). * Turn up settings for full effect (emitters, projectors, etc). * Explore. That's so freakin awesome. Screenshots look beautiful although I have one suggestion. How about changing the fluid texture for the gate? The generic one doesn't look too good. |

texturing needs much more work indeed.
You could try to use that portal effect in AW-Magic. That has the extra shinyness which looks cool. |

You can walk through the stargate. The last picture is the gate on the other side. I am hoping to add an outdoor area on that side, maybe chulak! Thanks for the great responses, more beta testers still wanted!
