There was a really cool wallpaper as the Picture of the Day on PlanetUnreal. I shamelessly stole it, and came up with this image. It's a little busy, but it's also a bit more... unconventional than some other candidates here.

Disclaimer: I AM NO ARTIST. I simply applied some premade Photoshop Elements filters until I was satisfied.

In order for people to be able to easily read the name on the logo, logomakers should refrain from making the logos too busy. Many of the drafts in this thread look very artistic, yet are just too busy for most users. I only suggest this so the logomakers can find some "middleground" in their graphics products. Many people get turned off by websites that have too much going on in the way of graphics. Please ensure that the text is legible. Yes, contrary to popular belief, text can be legible and stylish all at the same time. I hope I'm not stepping on any toes here, just trying to provide some helpful suggestions.

Whish I had the talent and resources to do this stuff...put my ideas down...I can pencil draw, but graphics artwork? ... Good luck to all you people trying to make logos! thus fara they look realy cool!

IMO: As far as titles and logos go, I've always found semetry to make more complex images more attractive...for instance the 2k4 logo...but of course semetry is not always the answer and of course that is just my opinion...but a sugestion non the less!

Again! Good luck to all of you!

Here's an idea I had...

I threw it together real quick to get the feel for an idea I had. I wanted the big eyepiece that forms the circle to be on Brock's face, but his face had to be so huge to do it that it didn't work out. So this is his face as a borg reflected in another borg's eyepiece.

Once complete, the community can name itself as its first order of business. I think any logos created for Unreal Collective will fit the name the community chooses, as Unreal Collective sums up the whole idea as any fitting name would.

Of course, the community could very well choose to keep the name as well.
It generally isn't a good idea to change a name until everyone knows it, or you risk confusing people and losing the 'personality' of the project. Just look at Royal Mail.

Yeah...suddenly trying to come up with compromises half way through a project (or shortly after the phase where in the conflict originated) an throw people and even cause teh project to loose momentum! During phase 1 we chose that name, and we should keep that name: if in fact after this is essentialy complete, the community can then elect to change teh name, but for now keep it the way it is!

BTW: Flynn Flak...nice concept for the immage, I like the general idea...too bad it did not work quite the way you had hoped! With a little work it might be able to do, but That I think would work better for one of the sight banners, not a main logo (IMO)! Just my bit of input:up:

1. Sorry for double posting ,but....

2. I'm a noob at graphics design, but...I wanna try any ways...

3. Seroth, how were you able to create the word "COLLECTIVE" in the 2k3 style so adeptly in such a short time???

Yeah...I have the UT2k4 logo and some special efects...but I want to replace "TOURNAMENT" with "COLLECTIVE" and I cant figure a quick productive, efficient etc way of doing that...ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Maybe I'm naive and the ruins will exceed the repairs, but you can't get any more community orientated than this - the community is trusted to look after the site. I'm curious as to how that would work, if at all.

As soon as you have trustworthy people and nominated editors and locked webpages, you move from a community vision into an individual one - and probably slide towards reinventing BU/PU/UnrealOps.
I was thinking of having an 'edit item' option, that would then only be updated if a large proportion of the community with over a number of posts (let's say 50) supported it. That would work for all sorts of things.
