Map - Deathmatch (PC/PS3) DM-Eggshell [PC|PS3]

Name: DM-Eggshell (or Egg's Hell)
Date: April 27th, 2009
Version: Final
Compatibility: PC/PS3, Titan mutator supported
Players: 4 - 10 players supported
Description:
A medium-sized deathmatch level in an ancient temple setting. Pretty standard fare for your system, nothing too outrageous so frames should be at a pretty high level. Double Damage, 50a and a keg are the powerups in the map. The rest of the weapons are scattered throughout. No custom texture work aside from taking advantage of the material editor, although many of the meshes are custom.
Comments:
I had my mind set on making a vibrant map from the get-go, although a late beta suggestion made me re-evaluate the color. It was changed from mid-day to late-day lighting, which in my opinion turned out for the better. The map is very warm and inviting but is still bright enough to show all the detail.

I also set my sights on creating a map that isn't too distracting to the player. I opted against depth of field and overuse of bloom in favor of a sharper, clearer map. After reading through the Let's talk about DM game play thread, I got a few ideas for this map, specifically the fewer distractions idea, although this is far from a perfect deathmatch.

This is my first UT3 map. I made a few for UT2004 a while back, and decided to jump back in. It took a little getting used to the new editor, but I think it worked out just fine. Definitely like the new features, a lot of my BSP/mesh combinations wouldn't be possible without mesh lightmaps. Give it a try and tell me what you think. I want to thank the beta testers in my beta thread, and Odedge especially for the very thorough and helpful comments!

Good map. I like the theme. Some bricks are hollow, maybe for better gameplay, but just don't feel right. All bricks are perfect simple geometrical shapes, maybe more detailed static meshes could have been made and used instead. There are two stinger miniguns close to each other, another weapon there would have been more useful. Very good map, but could use more detail.

Just played,
First, it's a map as I like
A good gameplay on it, multiple ways to move, very confortable and fun to play

Just some stuffs I would have changed (I'm so sorry to don't had time to beta test it and give some feedbacks, damn !) :

The corridor where is the flak is really too long, it's very frustrating to be shot from the opposite far side, since you cannot see your enemy considering the distance...

On some time, the match turn to a stinger battle due to the number of it...

The exterior decor would be better with past a bit more time to polish it (the bay look nude, the montain a bit too square...)

Some of the vegetations (the big herb on the down floor) can hide the other players, it's cool and not lol

Otherwise, the map have a good visual (looks like bsp based, even if it most meshing works, and I like it) and atmosphere, close to a keeper to me (Ok, I will keep it anyway and still play on it )

Good job m8 !

When I played the final, I got a M-M-Monster kill against my 7 expert bot opponents. Wait, I got a Monster kill, wrong game.

I like the map over all and it's improved nicely from the last beta, especially the lighting. Now it has some color and nice soft shadows.

While I agree it can use more polish, most maps can, it's a keeper for me. Nice work.
