Gears Editor and UDK ...

Hi, people. I have been out of the community for a long time. Some time ago, I have done some custom campaign content for Gears of War on PC (http://forums.epicgames.com/threads/...mpaign-for-GoW) and i want to finish it at last. I'm afraid i cant use the editor on Windows 7. I have install the game but the editor its another thing as all editor users know (crashes, low performance...)... anyone have used it with win7?.

Another question i do myself is if i can import Gears PC content (basic assets) and my own custom maps done with the Gears Editor to the UDK (and why not 2 or 3?), that i think its stronger and better than the game editor to make new content... I dont know if this can be done, or if this inflict any legal rule. I will not use it for lucrative targets, and if i can ask for permision i will do it... ( I will do a XBOX MP map for Free if they want!! (;)) ).

Seriously, there is a long time from i use the editor last time and i dont know if try to finish my custom campaign on the old editor, restart with the new UDK or what. I don't know if the editor will dont work on win 7 properly, if i can export to UDK, if the same skills will work right in the new UDK, if keep working in the old editor its a waste of time and efforts... i'm a little confused... too time far from this.

Main problem is that you have to write i UScript all GoW components (cover system, weapons, Actor Factories, etc.) if you want to export your campaign to UDK(Game in UDK is very cutted(?) version of Unreal Tournament)... Exporting Content is quite simple but time-consuming action (using gildors umodel for exporting from *.upk and importing all into udk can take massive ammount of time....) and that's illegal if you use meshes, textures, etc. from other games.

I'm using GoW Editor on Win 7 32-bit and haven't got any performance problems, you have to turn off lightning in preview window it's give a real boost to editor.

So, its not legal import meshes/characters even to do free maps/content and the UDK cant build properly the Gears Editor work... . I know it has Unreal upks but i want to work on Gears mainly. Its a pity. Well i'll keep on Gears Editor then, at last it seems it works on win7.

I disabled the lights on preview windows, and keep settings of the game in medium-low to edit and compile helps to avoid the editor crash in XP too, but i dont try it yet on W7. I will try it.

If Epic people have released GoW libraries for the UDK, it has been great, but it seems they have kill all support for PC comunity. Its sad.
