But the purpose of his thread wasn't just to talk down on the community, but to try to get people to be more respectful and understanding towards others I think. Of course criticism always turns into a flame war between people who disagree with each other so I can see why it was short lived.

haha told ya. but yeah, Nono's thread was about the community being bad compared to the old days and how most of the time that someone posts about an issue they have with the game, replies are usually "I never have that problem, quit whining", "adapt", and all that stuff we're used to. I think people were complaining IN the group about Nono's thread getting closed. Which basically meant they didn't agree with the mods and all. That could have been a reason for the group to have gotten removed as well IMO.
