What's the Point:

There is a point for this... its not a actual thread on the S&C section. This isn't meant to replace our great discussion(s) on there. All this acts as is a small "front" to discuss some of things we COULD do. We need threads, we need users, we need writers. We can always chip in and present an idea or two to bump the amount of people coming in. Got a great idea for a few threads or a few ways to at least give the illusion that the S&C section is active? Then just post a small bit of your idea here. Want to start some sort of writing competition/RPG etc - post the information here. One reason most might avoid the S&C is due to the fact that he's never all that active. We need to give people more threads to post on.

My idea: Get Flak, Cher, and Rac in on this. We NEED Admin support. They are the Lifelines of teh community, so what better way to do that then get them involved in our project.

There's also the new guy, the "Community Manager," Will Kinsler. Perhaps we can nominate him to be more active here in the S&C section.

We need some events to keep our members engaged.

Maybe a weekly short-story prompt, then the yearly Best-Of awards, and maybe a few challenges (write 1,000 words in three days), not to mention some smaller contests that we could hold every once in a while.

I personally like the weekly short-story prompt. Every week we post a short story prompt. No deadlines, no strings, just prompts. Take whatever prompts you want and combine them, or take just one.

Jonesy, that Will guy is Rac.

All good ideas, we do need Mod/Admin and CM support. Question... are we ready to have Mods in on our world?

Edit: Toes, I do love that idea. I think Jay would love to get his SK thing done before we head onto writing, although, prompts aren't going to hurt, right?

I, too, like that diea Wiz. I'm down for it.

And Jonesy, the new community manager, Will Kinsler, is the Rac I mentioned . Raczilla.

"One reason most might avoid the S&C is due to the fact that he's never all that active"...

    Could you elaborate, SKORGE?

EDIT: What would be the pros and cons of having MOD support?

Jonesy, I meant that the S&C section doesn't seem all that active. When I'm on, a few post's manage change the omen from yellow to red indicating a new post. We barely get a new thread a week. To people scouting the Forums, what's the point of checking the S&C if it never stays active or new threads/discussions are never brought up? We need more then a chapter every other week or so. We need to bring in new users from other areas wanting to just "check it out".

Also, I didn't mean Mods would be a bad thing. I just meant... if we're on the radar, do we want the whole "Big brother watching" ideal. We've been without a Mod/Admin for about a year or two, reaching three... It would certainly be different. Sometimes we get off-topic, but we manage to handle our own... so... with a mod?

Well the reason I brought up the pros and cons is to just elaborate if it would be in the better interest of the S&C section if there is an active mod. Granted, a mod can keep some stability in the section and keep things on track, while at the same time, do we want a mod to be censoring the content we post? Alot of the stories here are, for the most part, rated M, based on a game that is rated M, and although I didn't see any infractions that would be of concern, a mod may be more finicky about what content we can and cannot post. Again, this is just a rough speculation, and I want to hear everyone's input on it, simply because I haven't been here as long as some of y'all, so I am not familier with what the S&C section would be like if we did have an active mod.

Well, most of the people look up to the mods. Flak and Cher have a fan following. If some see them frequently posting in a normally less active forum, the geese will follow the flock, so to speak.
