Sell me on joining the Epic Games community...

I thought this one would be an interesting exercise. There are so many threads and comments here about how great the community is. I agree!

If you were trying to sell someone on the idea of joining the Epic Games community, what would you tell them? Why should they join and take part?

Its simply the single greatest community there is. The Epic Community act and talk like family. If one of us is down the others pick him/her back up. We can discuss things without massive amounts of flaming, hold debates about game issues, and we have an amazing development team who actually LISTENS to us. Anyone with a passion for Gears of War should definitely join the Epic Forums. Before long they'll feel like a part of the family (I've only been here for 6 months and look at me! ) Joining allows players to have a voice that is heard, and allows them to join the discussions we have every day.

I did such a good job, not only did you join the community, but Epic Games Employment as well!

Being a girl in a world of guy gamers was tough.....or so i thought. I figured i'd get made fun of, or just pushed aside.

But everyone here welcomed me with open arms. I soon got comfy. No one judged me. It was fun to chat with others who had the same passion as me.

I don't know what it is, but there's an aura here. It just makes you want to come in and stay awhile

It is PERFECT sure we have our trolls and our ban evaders but with the friendly mods the helpful users (and even our very own mod) We crack down on trouble and its usually resolved.

Not much I can say but you won't find better games or forums out there.

I sell, or try to sell the gears community all the time. The main point I always make is that as big as epic are, as popular as the gears franchise is. It's not hard to get a response from the ACTUAL people that make the game.

Thats the only thing that scares me about gears 3 selling on a scale of say COD. I sometimes worry a MASSIVE influx of fans will take away that feeling that we're all friends with the epic crew.

How about doing a special promo for Gears 3 like "The Last Days" promo for Gears 2 where tags were placed around places on the tags were codes you input the code on gearsofwar.com and it unlocked a sound clip, some footage, art work, even little data enteries.

I've been playing Gears since 06 yet i didnt join straight away mainly due to i joined game communitys before and found it off putting, but when Hooligunn recommended i join here i gave it a shot and ive been here since, the selling point is the community isnt like most, we all share a like for videogames, and of course mainly the Gears universe.

I even gave my Gears 3 Preorder code to a friend so he can get into the Beta and finally go and order Gears 3 when he falls in love with it.

I think that one of the best things about this community is that we can be serious and joking.

We have tons of great info, but the users also post back and forth 'play joking' and having funny conversations.

We aren't just a nerdfest of gamers on a forum, we all have our normal lives and we can have fun talking with others who share our interest.

Also, you guys do a great job (as well as the community for reporting) of getting rid of flame wars and spammers

I just love the fact that we can interact with devs and community managers so easily via forums, twitter, etc. I feel like my input is actually being taken into consideration.

Everyone in these forums loves Gears. From the casuals, to the hardcore. The MLG from the weekenders. Everyone loves Gears of War.

We, as a community, help each other past problems. We make good friends. Sometimes great friends. There's nothing better than meeting new people with a common interest and these forums really work great for that.

The fact that Epic Employees manage the forums is another bonus. We get to talk to developers about what's going on, rather than posting a thread just in the hopes someone up top might see it.
