ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY
All Kry'aike have long, dome-like heads that exhibit four pairs of eyes, a pair of jaw-located mandibles, and a collar-like plate that juts out from the back. Their head is relatively smooth on the top and their lower jaw is considered extremely chiseled by human standards.

Kry'aike have four pairs of eyes. The first pair, considered the primary set, are the largest and are permanently angled in an almost glaring way; the rest are much smaller and circular in comparison and are positioned around the first set. But perhaps one of the most distinguishable traits about the Kry'aike are their glowing neon eyes. An adaptation made in response to the long nights of their homeworld, Kry'aike eyes naturally glow and can act as a form of communication and point of reference in dark areas. The color of these eyes differentiate from colony to colony; it can be used to pinpoint the colony of origin just as a human would trace his or her ancestry based on their skin color.

They also have a pair of mandibles that extend from the back of the jaw to the beginning of the chin. The mandibles themselves have grown shorter as they evolved, and now serve only to show a Kry'aike's emotional state. When angered, these mandibles open, an act that once served to prepare them for use.

Due to their size and bulk, most Kry'aike lack wings and are incapable of flight. Queens on the other hand, are the sole exception to this rule, thanks to their human-like size and pair of fully-developed wings which can fly them over short distances. However, Queens cannot stay in the air for long, so the use of their wings is generally reserved for crossing gaps or gliding down elevations.

One of the more interesting traits of the Kry'aike are their mental functions. Queens and high-ranking Warriors have demonstrated cognitive thinking on par with humans while Workers and Warriors act rather predictably. While no one knows the true cause behind this, one popular theory suggests that all Kry'aike are capable of higher thinking but are incapable of accessing those parts of the brain without assistance in the form of brain-altering chemicals given off by a Queen. The theory also hypothesizes that Kry'aike who preform exceptionally well are allowed more freedom to think. Despite the theory's popularity, the Kry'aike haven't disclosed anything on the subject.

CASTE SYSTEM
Similar to terrestrial ants and wasps, the Kry'aike are divided into physical castes, each varying in appearance and functionality.

Queens
The Queen is the central figure of a colony. Controlling a majority of her colony via hive mind, the Queen has full reign over all activities within her colony and even by human standards, are considered quite intelligent. Unlike terrestrial insects, it is not the responsibility of the Queen to propagate her hive; that role belongs to an all-female subclass of Worker, called Breeders. Naturally, this allows Kry'aike Queens some advantages they wouldn't otherwise have.

Out of all the Kry'aike, Queens are the most comparable to humans. Resembling Kry'aike Warriors in appearance, they are bipedal and typically stand under two meters in height. They also possess a set of wings, making them the only Kry'aike capable of flight.

Warriors
The Warrior makes up the entirety of the Kry'aike military. Since Queens are too valuable to loose and Workers are better left maintaining full productivity, Warriors doubles as the eyes, ears, arms and legs of the Kry'aike people. Because of this, they are the most well-known caste out of all three.

Unlike the insectoid-build Workers, Kry'aike Warriors are bipedal in nature, closer resembling human body structure. Warriors stand between 2½ and 3 meters tall, making them naturally imposing creatures. Warriors also possess a smaller set of arms under the first one, located where the "ribs" would be. They are also known for their great strength, which is something terrible to behold; one report went as far as claiming that the larger Kry'aike Warriors were capable of lifting over 1500 kilograms of weight over their heads. Whenever these rumors ring true or not is yet to be seen.

Workers
The third and final tier of Kry'aike society belongs to the Worker Caste. Fundamental to all Kry'aike life, Workers craft the very architecture of their colonies, cultivate their food, design their machines and craft their weapons of war. They're even responsible for the propagation of their species via the Breeder sub-caste. Overall, a Worker is just as important to a hive as any Warrior or Queen.

Workers appear more insect-like appearance than the other two castes. They have four legs, several sets of arms (which allows them to multi-task), and a curving neck that's comparable to a scorpion's tail.
