This is my idea for the next Gears of War. Based from the Karen Traviss books.
The name of this Gears of War is a combination of two of the novels. Coalition's End and Jacinto's Remnant. Gears of War Collation's Remnant. Set between Gears 2 and 3 this Gears takes place during the COG's time on Vectes Island. Gorasnaya controlled Vectes and its Navel Base for the Imulsion Rig that resided there. This Gears would take place during the earlier stages of the Lambent Pandemic and during the Stranded Insurgency. Lots of ways the VS heads and the co-op players could get what the want in this Gears. Epic taking ideas from the forums, Twitter, and Facebook. Lots of Characters to play as. Plenty of enemies to kill in campaign and Vs. So many ideas can come from this thread i hope that you guys support this idea.

What caliber ammunition do the Lancer, Hammerburst or any of the weapons use? The Snub Pistol apparently uses a ".50 kal" round, which is like the real-life Desert Eagle.

In this picture of the Hammerburst, the rounds next to it and inside the magazine are gigantic when you consider how big the weapon actually is (Reinforced by the silhouette of the Drone holding it). These bullets look like the size of a cigar:

I've heard people toss around 13mm to 23x45mm for the Lancer's ammo. If it's the latter then it would explain why Locust are instant-killed by a single round.

The Boltok fires some kind of round that can eviscerate limbs completely. Some Revolvers in real-life can do that, but not to the point where the limb actually gets reduced to meat-chunks.

The promised peace that was to come at the end of The Pendulum Wars was short lived and it seemed all that Gears would ever know was death. Humanity has always known war and fighting, but this was no war. This was survival. Humanity didn't need soldiers, it needed heroes. It needed an underdog that could rise above the struggle and raise the spirits of the remaining humans of Sera. Realizing this, the Coalition of Ordered Governments enacted Operation: Ascension.

Five elite Onyx Guard recruits who showed exemplary talent and skill would be selected for the program. Each of them would be placed into the front lines with the Gears soldiers under the guise of being fresh recruits. They would be faceless, nameless cadets who would each go above and beyond the orders given to them by their commanding officers and stand up to them when necessary. They would ascend through the ranks, quickly becoming legends amongst fellow Gears.

This is just a little bit of an idea I had about a possible future Gears of War game. During the campaign, you would play as your own Gear that would be one of the five I mentioned. You would meet each character of the past Gears games throughout the campaign during missions, seeing the things that they had done in the past before Gears of War 1.
This is also means that this a prequel. I personally believe Gears of War 3 had a solid ending and should remain the conclusion.

You would be able to customize your Gear's armor and helmet by unlocking different pieces by ranking up. These would also crossover into the multiplayer if you choose to use your own Gear. There would also be a return of most Gears characters from the games and the books into the multiplayer, as you will be seeing them throughout the Campaign.
Each character will have their own set of armor modifications to add to your uniqueness.

The Locust would also be making a return to traditional multiplayer, but with a slight twist. Rather than have many different locusts, you will have 4 base models of Locusts that you can customize yourself. Drone, Grenadier, Theron, and Kantus. This way you can play as a Cyclops or a Bolter depending on what helmet you put on your Drone. You will also be able to play as the bosses of past Gears games i.e. RAAM (who makes an appearance in Ascension), Karn, Myrrah, and Skorge.

Weapon skins will return, but they will be different. Rather than have seperate skins that are just different colors i.e. xbox/onyx/aurora, they will be prefaces, so the aforementioned would be called "Liquid". You will be able to put your own color scheme on each weapon. This might have to be tweaked during team based games to make sure people no what team your on, but I doubt it seeing as Locust will be making a return.

The campaign story line will reveal more information about character origins. It will also reveal more information about the Locust origins in side missions known as [REDACTED] missions, a spinoff of Declassified missions.

I have been passing this idea around online to see if fans of the franchise would enjoy it and everyone I have asked really likes the concept of being their own Gear. If you guys could leave comments, hopefully constructive ones, I would really appreciate it.

Two fearsome warriors stand in the arena. Head to Head and Toe to Toe. This will be a battle that will shake all of Nexus and decide the future of the Locust. The Lambency is spreading at an alarming rate. Locust are succumbing to the infection every day. Turning on their comrades and treading their filth through the Hollow. A strong, powerful leader is needed to guide the army to victory over the Groundwalkers.

The Queen sits looking thoughtful at both of her champions. The outcome of today will decide the fate of her beloved race and the future of Sera. The outcome of today will have far-reaching repercussions. Both Warriors have their merits.

First of all RAAM. The 9 foot prodigal Drone whose progress through the Army was swift. Cunning, smart and ruthless. He would make a fitting General to keep the lesser-minded Drones in check. Even more amazing is his ability to control the Kryll which swarm around him, protecting him and obeying him, a point of a finger is all that is needed to turn an unfortunate enemy into an opaque crimson cloud. Strong and silent, his golden eyes burn with ambition. His unwavering loyalty to his Queen and the Horde is admirable.

High Priest Skorge would also be an easy choice. Preaching the Way of the Worm and leader of the Healing Kantus Monks. He would be great for morale and keeping the front lines in one piece. Even though he is a Kantus his slight form is often underestimated. Extremely agile and skilled with a double chainsaw he can take down a whole batallion of Lambent before a regular Drone could drop one. His skill with the Gorgon pistols and Ink grenades is somewhat of a legend in Nexus too.

The Queen signals for silence. This will not be a battle to the death. Simply a battle to see who is more worthy to lead the Locust forces to impending victory. The two foes glare at each other with wary respect. They know what each is capable of. Suddenly the Queen shouts for these two fearsome warriors to start.

Regarding each other RAAM and Skorge each screech and growl their war cry to one another. Let the game begin...

I made it to what looks like a Ticker production line? I always wondered how the Locust managed to strap bombs to those little ticking critters. I look through the scope of my Longshot aiming in at a Drones' skull. I am so tempted to pull the trigger but I don't want to give away my position. I'm here for information, not to kill these ugly grubs.

There seems to be some sort of commotion coming from inside the building. I see tickers running everywhere in all directions attacking the Locust. I smile to myself as I see chunks of Drones fly in all directions. I thought the Tickers were the Locusts' pets? A Kantus tries to maintain order by screaming guttural orders at the hapless Drones. The tickers are very organised, almost like they have orders. What on the name of the COG is going on here?

I'm fascinated by the hubbub so I move closer until I'm 50 metres away from the entrance. Tickers are still running everywhere attacking everything that moves.
There is hardly any Drones left now. Then I see a slightly larger ticker emerge from gap in the building. It ticks and screams loudly, and the smaller bombed tickers respond! I see more and more appear and they all line up like a battalion of volatile cats. I see five of the larger tickers patrolling the outsides of the tight squares seemingly keeping the smaller tickers in line.

I lay low and listen as they scream and tick away. I don't know what is going on but I sure as hell don't want to find out. Suddenly they scuttle away as fast as lightning and only one of the large tickers remain. I peep over the rock at it and it turns towards me. I ready my longshot and take aim but by the time I scope in it's gone. I breathe a sigh of relief and start to retreat to convey the information back to Anvil Gate.

TICK TICK TICK. I stop and turn slowly. Behind me is a Ticker... It is huge! I fall back and pull my gun from my back. It runs towards me quick as Kryll stripping the flesh off a stranded. I kick out at it and it stops screaming. I notice the armour plating around the ticker and realise how much that hurts! I take aim at it again and it rushes at me knocking me off balance. I feel a deep gash open up in my left arm. It scampers up and around and screams.

I grunt and turn towards this creature as it stares at me. Is it laughing at me? The sounds it is making sound like a demon's giggles. It charges again but this time I'm ready. I jump to the side and smash my gun into it. It soars through the air and lands on the dusty floor dazed. I take aim and fire. It shatters like glass. I walk over to examine the macabre pile of goo.

I pick up one of it's claws as a trophy. An adversary as worthy as this deserves to be remembered.

I shudder to think about what the rest of those tickers are up to... Having some difficulties completing this, main problem is the main character is in the present reminiscing about the past but, not exactly in the past tense. Confused? Yeah, me too, that's why I'm looking for some help. So, if you could read this and share any ideas I'd appreciate it. :)

WARNING! - Crow is a hard, practical man who tells it like he sees it. This story isn't some "fun adventure story", it's an exploration of the brutality of survival in an insane world, and one man's dogged quest... for revenge. So if that sounds too much for you, you should probably skip this. ;)

It's funny how things change. How people change... when it all turns to sh*t.

It's been fourteen long, messed years since the Locust first bust outta the ground and started their f*cked up war against all humanity. Millions died. Sh*t... who knows? Maybe billions? I sure as hell ain't no expert on subject. But in that time, with all the crazy sh*t going on? People got meaner somehow...

Anyways, reckon I'm getting a little off track here.

My name used to be James Dunham, but nobody calls me that no more. If folk gotta call me something, they call me "Crow". Guess it's the beady eyes I got. Little dark beady eyes. Like a crow.

So, never did have much in the way of family ties, even before the grubs. Had a brother up in Gallow, and my mom back in Highport. But none of us never did talk much. Had ourselves something of a family falling out a ways back. Suppose they're dead now anyhow. I heard Highport gotta hit pretty hard a couple of years back, supposedly the grubs burned the damned place to the ground with all the refugees that was there. Or so the rumor goes.

And me?

Well, I survived pretty well in those early years. Cause mostly, I kept to myself. You see trust is a funny thing. When it's life or death and all the rules are out the window? Anything goes my friend, anything f*cking goes. You can't trust nobody cause everybody be looking out for themselves. And if they need to f*ck you over just to survive? Hell, they'll do it in a heartbeat. It's fear I reckon, fear, desperation, blind panic, gets folk all crazy up in the head.

Course, not everybody is like that. I had a friend in the early days, a Belkan guy who used to be a UIR sniper. Went by the name of Stanko. Damn but he was one ugly son of a b*tch! I mean regular ass ugly. Huge too, like a big old grizzled bear, meaty hands as big as goddamn tombstones. And sh*t, he was tough, one heck of a tough bastard. Tough as old boots that UIR son of a b*tch was.

Stanko was a pretty cool motherf*cker though, looked out for me, showed me how to hunt, how to kill silently with a knife. Among other things.

Yes sir, Stanko sure loved that knife a his, kinda liked killing too now that I come to think of it. Funny thing about Stanko was, death and killing? None of that sh*t bothered him much. Guess he'd seen so much of it that in a way he become immune to it or something. He'd laugh and joke around even as he slashed open some poor assholes throat. But hey, don't get me wrong now, Petri Stanko? Petri Stanko was a stand up guy. He never f*cked with nobody that didn't deserve it. Course, the Locust got him eventually. He went down fighting and all, but still; I cried like a baby the night Petri Stanko died.

The feathers of a Crow...

Kinda lost it after Stanko died, got kinda stupid and paid the price for it. Ended up being ambushed by a pack of wretches, never would have happened if Stanko had still been alive. Little bastards tore me up pretty good too. And I swear to you right here and now I thought that was it. I thought I was a dead man, a f*cking dead man. But as luck would have it this old married couple had been scavenging in the area, heard my screams and came a running. They fought off the wretches, brought me back to their place, and patched me up.

Well... patched me as best they could.

You see, those little wretch bastards shredded my face up pretty bad. Marsha (that's the lady's name see) used to be some kind of nurse before she retired, and she sewed what was left of my face back together.

Course, she wasn't no expert in that kinda thing and there was muscle damage, chunks of flesh missing and all so... well...

...let's just say I ain't as handsome as I used to be.

Fact is, the scarring is so bad I have to cover up most of the time, otherwise I could scare folk off with my face. Pretty sure I even scared a grub once. F*cker took one look at me and almost sh*t his pants.

Funny, but, I always smile when I think of that.

I stayed with Marsha and Glen (that's the old fella's name see) until I started to get back on my feet. Two of the nicest goddamn folk I ever did meet. The kind of people you see on them family TV shows, and never believe could be real. At least, not in my world. But they were real. Last thing I ever expected to run into in the hell that is my life was good old fashioned, honest, decent people.

It was two weeks ago today that the bad sh*t happened. I remember it clearly because it had rained for days. Rained pretty hard. I remember the rain on account of how it irritates the sh*t outta my scarred skin. Goddamn pain in the ass that it is. Anyhow, I was visiting some guy, some guy who said he knew the location of a secret COG ammo cache, but needed help getting it open. Turns out the guy was as nutty as a squirrel turd, just another dumbass talking sh*t. But there's a lot of that going around.

When I got back, Marsha and Glen had been killed. But that, that wasn't the worse of it. It was how they'd been killed that got to me most. Now I ain't about to get into the sordid details of it all but the simple fact is... well, they didn't go easy. I seen my share of bad sh*t, and I ain't the kinda guy that gets rattled too easy. But what I saw, what they did to Marsha and Glen...

So, after that Crow starts talking about something that happened a few years earlier, so the problem is trying to inform the reader about the timeline of events. I dunno, it's hard. :o
