We know Corpsers are basically da' bomb at digging, bringing up other Horde members to knaw our faces off. Heres a good question though: Can other Locust Horde members dig? I remember from somewhere saying that the Locust can sneak and come at you from under the ground. Now as far as I know, there has been no shred of conceptual or actual solid proof that they can do so. I'll just let you guys take a shot at this one while I knock some heads over at the game spot forums.

Anything is capable of digging, some just faster than others, they probably use the corpser because its legs are fast and easy to dig with.

There are problems with them being able to: Cover would be less effective. And with a game that has your survival practically dependant on cover, it just doesn't make sense.

However, it gives a kind of stealth element to the Locust Horde. Even though its hard to see them stealthy. I mean, the smell alone would give em' away, wouldn't it?

They can probably dig just about enough to entrench themselves. Did you see the claws on those bastards?

i bet they can dig, since they dug around the core of sera and made homes n stuff, but i doubt they will incorporate digging into the gameplay.....but you never know..

Now that would be an innovation in a game. Have this piece of hardware, and with the game comes a multi-odor cartridge with different smells that shoots out odors based on level surroundings... (refills available online) Talk about immersion.

i bet the only time u see drones digging is in a cinematic cutscene or something, it would ruin gameplay if they dug at anytime

It would be a cool idea if the Locust could dig and attack from anywhere, but it would get frustrating at times if you were in a fight and one of the locust you were fighting just dug away and popped up behind you later to kill you. They might rip out of the ground in front of you but i doubt they will resubmerge and surface after you have seen them.

In that Destroyed Beauty book that was released I remember it saying that the granite beneath Jacinto was too thick for the Locust's digging machines. It leads one to wonder how much technology is really at the Hordes disposal.

I always thought by digging 'machines', they meant corpsers. Still makes you wonder how they developed weaponary skillz.

i completely agree with gear03,it would ruin the cover if you could be in cover and they pop up behind you while others are still shooting at you. -OD

They come out of 'Emergence Holes' that you can seal by throwing a nade in them (campaign only I think).

well in the X06 gameplay videos it would always say at the bottom of the screen emergence hole when he (i guess) looked at them. i never actually saw them but if you can seal them by throwing nades into them they must be pretty small and i don't think huge corpsers would waste their time by digging indiviual holes for most locusts.

yeah i saw that vid as well, the emergence holes you saw in it were only large enough for about 3-4 grunts to get out at once, so it makes you wonder if the locust fixed a small explosive or had a small handheld drilling machine with them to create those holes.
