From the Epic Gamers blog (http://epicgames.com/community/2012/06/fortnite-panel-at-comic-con-fortnite-revealed).

On Thursday, July 12 at 10:45 to 11:45 AM PST at San Diego Comic-Con, be sure to check out the panel, Epic Games Presents: Fortnite Revealed.

Host Jessica Chobot (G4TV’s X-Play, Attack of the Show) will join Epic Games as it lifts the veil on its new game Fortnite. Teased late last year, attendees will be the very first people in the world to see Fortnite in action.

Get inside the minds of Epic Games‘ Design Director Cliff Bleszinski, Producer Tanya Jessen and Lead Artist Pete Ellis as they reveal inspirations, gameplay details, and why Fortnite is taking Epic Games in both a classic and all-new direction.

So? Who is excited to know more about the game?

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Infos from https://www.theverge.com/gaming/2012/7/12/3155138/epic-games-fortnite-will-be-the-developers-first-unreal-engine-4-game:

The creators of Gears of War and the Unreal Engine came to Comic-Con today to finally talk about their next game, Fortnite, a "a co-op sandbox survival game," according to producer Tanya Jessen. During the panel, the company also revealed the game would be PC exclusive and the first title from Epic to use its next-gen Unreal Engine 4 technology.

Jessen says the new property is about exploration, scavenging gear, building fortified structures and fighting waves of encroaching monsters hellbent on killing you and your friends.

"Building is really the core of the game," Jessen says. "Everything you find allows you to build and improve your structure." Epic says the game will have "a lot of loot" buried in the game.

Epic demonstrated playable prototypes of the game running on Unreal Engine 3, showing multiple ways players will be able to upgrade weapons — in this case a crossbow that can be outfitted with explosives and electric shocks — and offered glimpses of the various enemy types and building structures players will see in Fortnite.

Design director Cliff Bleszinski revealed during the panel that Fortnite would be the first game to take advantage of the company's Unreal Engine 4 tech.

"This is a PC designed game, shipping exclusively on the PC," Bleszinski said. Epic showed screen shots of Fortnite running on the next-gen Unreal Engine, showing off gorgeous lighting and modeling advances that accentuate the cartoonish style of the game.

Originally, Bleszinski said, Fortnite followed a more traditional post-apocalyptic, The Road-inspired aesthetic, but the team found the style "depressing." Designer Pete Ellis showed the evolution of one of the game's zombie-like enemy types, The Husk, and its transition from scary, wiry undead to its current more cartoonish style. The panel also revealed the name of the previously revealed enemy, the squat, teleporting Troll, which Bleszisnki described as "a manifestation of everything on the Internet that I hate."

Will this be streaming on this website at all? Im extremely curious about this game and would love to watch it immediately. I also dont want to just watch some crappt cell phone cam of it a week from now on youtube, so any real coverage would be great.

This tweet should clear everything: https://twitter.com/WesPhillips/status/223443750645534722
You'll see screenshots when published, but every other thing will be showed during the panel ;) And I don't think there'll be any live stream.

What happened to "Consoles first, PC later"? I guess PC gamers aren't just a bunch of pirates anymore. That's good.

^I agree. I will definitely be getting it im sure cause my computer is really nice. But I was hoping for some couch coop with the girlfriend and other friends. No one I know has a good enough computer let alone the ones that are actually interested in gaming.

I'm so happy this game is coming for PC!!!! This is the perfect game for that platform and I'm sure it'll be much more fun to play with the PC community. The screens look really nice. I haven't been this excited for an Epic game since the original Gears. :)

I agree that I ought to be able to buy it on steam. And I'll be honest and say I could care less about getting gamerscore out of it so GFWL isn't a must but lets not be idiotic tossing the broad blanket and promote Steam > GFWL in terms of quality.

I know GFWL can be buggy and we all love to blame it for most of a games problems MP wise that uses it but I think Dawn of War II: Retribution ought to have taught us that going from GFWL to Steamworks doesn't always mean better quality gameplay. Steamworks IMO was worse then GFWL in DoW2: Retributions case. And much of the community seemed to agree at first. Now it since the population is so small people just really honestly stopped caring since they knew nothing was going to be done about it and Relic is no longer supporting the game with DLC or balance updates.

I'm very disappointed that it won't be playable on Xbox right away, regardless of the 'possibility' that it could ever be coming to Xbox... Not sure why EPIC decided to make it a PC exclusive.

I own ps3/xbox and PC so am not a pc fanboy but the ps3/xbox are old tech and couldn't do Unreal Engine 4 justice. If the sales figures are good then I bet the game will be released for the nextgen consoles. I'm surprised there isn't more of a buzz about the editor that will be shiped with the game, UDK is nice but this is Unreal Engine 4... FRIKIN UNREAL ENGINE 4!!!!. Epic you already has my moneys.:)
